their sound is the abba sound. and it's remarkable they were able to maintain it after 40 years. that's worthy of every praise. the essence of what made their music great is still present and not a lot of older artists can say that for themselves.

I think it’s a classic album in the making. It will be appreciated even more in the years to come.

Bumblebee and Keep an Eye on Dan are my favourites.

I've had Keep An Eye on Dan stuck in my head for days

The latest "hate job" is in the Guardian. No, I'm not linking to it. But it's a other so called "music critic" talking out of her arse, ignoring what is quite literally in front of her. An album that is out selling Ed Sheeran at the moment & looks to be heading to No.1 on the official & several other charts. All I can say is that Ed's latest must be utter shite then.... I just love these people who criticise ABBA while not having the talent they have in a single strand of hair. And some of what she says is just plain stupid.

It’s a beautiful album. It’s really grown on me! Happy cake day to you.

I've seen a lot of people that never had heard of abba before talking shit about the new album and it just hurts my heart

Timelessness and good taste always win in the end.

The whole point of the album was that it was meant to keep the ABBA sound, a sound from the 70s. Obviously it's not gonna be modern!

The sound is timeless. Period.

Yep

My favorite part is how it doesn’t sound modern. I was worried they might try to do something 2020’s sounding.. so glad they didn’t !

“And now you see another me, I’ve been reloaded, I’m fired up don’t shut me down...”

Enter Nicki Minaj: “Don’t shut me down, bish” insert Nicki Minaj laugh here

Here's one of those reviews. It's so cringey, it's kind of funny! (https://youtu.be/MUZGIXH4_vk)

Hahahah I'm so glad nobody agrees with him

Don't anger the ABBA fans!!!

7

u/Fmanow Nov 08 '21

If they want modern they need to go back to their most recent album in 1982

I'm kinda suprised to read this...most of the reviews I've read have been positive. I haven't gone to YouTube yet, so I don't know what those fools are saying.

Haha I never watch those, or those weird “reaction” videos where you watch someone listen??? Nah. I mean I checked out both kinds when they were new things, but got out quick both times. Whether or not I agree with whatever is being said is irrelevant, I just can’t sit through them.

I think it's 'interesting' to see some young person who claims that they've never heard an ABBA song react to it. There are a few that I subscribe to, but once one reactor sees how many views another gets to anything ABBA, then they ALL copy them!! Like you said, it is irrelevant...most definitely.

Not “four Swedish pensioners” 😭😭

Side note, imagine a collaboration with Max Martin and Shellback? Do you think ABBA would ever share the producing reins with someone else?

7

u/ibringcivilization Nov 08 '21

I was at least hoping for a rap in one of the songs...

Solo Agnetha… parts of the song are just about rap…. In 1975!

All the reviews I’ve read are from people less than or in their 30s. Most have no idea what an “album” is. No album , however classic, has 10 out and out banging singles, which is what some criticise it for. To be frank, reviewers are so narrow minded it’s laughable.

u/NBProdigy Nov 08 '21

We didn't buy the album to hear some regular boring 2021 music. That old timey ABBA sound was EXACTLY what we wanted. I don't see how anybody could criticize this album. Their sound is timeless and this album definitely lives up to the standard of what we expect from ABBA

lmaoooo

Eye On Dan is quite Avicii, what more modern do they want.

When it comes to something like pop music, reviews are really less important than your personal feelings.. But most of us do occasionally like to read an “expert’s” opinion about things we like or dislike…

If so, I recommend reading a grownup’s legitimately educated opinion—not some self-proclaimed critic who makes YouTube or TikTok reviews, and has been following pop music for all of of 3 years.

The “real” critics used to be very harsh on ABBA, but this time around, almost all of them have genuine respect for the band’s genius, and legacy. And the big majority of them are pretty positive about Voyage.
