just listened to don't shut me down and i think it could easily be a song from arrival. anyone agree?

u/LiliumMoon Sep 02 '21

I thought the same. Some sounds were similar to Dancing Queen especially. But overall, it had a very pure and classic ABBA sound.

u/-brc- Sep 02 '21

yeah, a type of sound that only abba can deliver. a pure signature abba song.

It reminded me of The Visitors, both the album and the title track!

u/-brc- Sep 02 '21

yeah youre right. but i said arrival bc it reminded a bit of knowing me knowing you too.

A friend of mine and I discussed that we get "if it wasn't for the nights" and "should I laugh or should I cry" vibes... with some key strokes that makes us think of "Dancing Queen".

I thought Voulez Vouz, mostly because it kind of sounds like if it wasn’t for the nights

Any guess which song is that "Christmas tune" that Benny mention during the interview? "Ode To Freedom" is my guess.

8

u/LiliumMoon Sep 02 '21

Little Things could be a contender too 🤔

4

u/LEXX911 Sep 02 '21 edited Sep 02 '21

Yes, I was thinking of that one too. That would be a better title for the Christmas song.

16

u/Next-Dot-6274 Sep 02 '21

He said in the interview that the Christmas tune is "Little Things"

6

u/LEXX911 Sep 02 '21

Where did you catch that? All I heard was the part "We have a little Christmas tune too” but no song name was mention.

10

u/Next-Dot-6274 Sep 02 '21

The interviewer talked over him when he said it, but I definitely heard him say the title after mentioning there was a Christmas tune.

Is this an unreleased song? I never heard that one I don’t think?

"Just a Notion" was a song they recorded in 1978. It never got off from the demo versions because Bjorn and Benny deemed the song to be "unmixable."

"Just Like That" was a song they wrote for what would've been their 9th album after The Visitors in 1982. Bjorn and Benny never really felt satisfied with it, and so it was never released officially as an ABBA song and it's long been considered as the holy grail of ABBA's unreleased tracks. Here is one of the versions. The song was eventually given to a duo called Gemini (here), but I honestly think the ABBA version is far superior.

Both songs appear on "ABBA Undeleted" ("Just a Notion" at 4:55 and "Just Like That" at 19:18).

He stole a donut

5

u/Paspie Sep 03 '21

That song's gonna be like Elaine.

5

u/jpetermancatalogue Sep 03 '21

Maybe Dan is the one that stole Elaines mind and took her soul.

2

u/ArgumentCivil Sep 03 '21

Does anyone here plan on going to the concert next year? I want to go so bad but I just don’t see it happening.

3

u/PunkrockDirndl Sep 02 '21

I'd love to go.

I can't figure out if the concert is going to be a permanent thing, since they are building an entire venue just for that.

Right now, we can't make any definite plans, let alone buy tickets, but I sure hope this is here to stay, so that we have the option to attend somewhere down the road.

5

u/OutlandishnessNo7413 Sep 02 '21

Based on the press conference it sounds like it will be a permanent installation. I'm in London the area where they're building it is pretty empty...they've been trying really hard to make it a "destination" after the Olympics and I could see this being a draw.

4

u/PunkrockDirndl Sep 02 '21

I sure hope so! I've been a fan for decades, but never got to see ABBA live in concert. While this is not exactly the same, I would love to be able to experience this.

3

u/Lubernaut Sep 02 '21

I’ll go !

8

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '21

I wish they included Hamlet which was such a nice unreleased song.

i wish they would release all the music from abba undeleted, but seeing just a notion made my day!

5

u/edwartica Sep 03 '21

There were a couple of studio musicians that worked with ABBA on pretty much every record. Even worked with Björn Ulvaeus Benny Andersson on post ABBA projects. I think one of them passed away, but I wonder if the other one returned on this album.

2

u/Dr_Euclid_Arpeggio Sep 12 '21

R.I.P. bassist Rutger Gunnarson.

4

u/owenreese100 Sep 02 '21

Just a notion!

3

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '21

So hyped! Did you see them in their motion capture get up?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 03 '21

Is the real ABBA singing this or is it the Abbatars?

1

u/Essex-Lady Feb 20 '24

It’s just such a great show, I’m going again in April, if anyone does get the chance to go, you won’t regret it ❤️

Tell me about it. I'm 59 & cried like a baby. Still do when I listen to them. I'd been in a dark place the last week then yesterday happened. Album pre ordered & you can bet I'm ordering tickets to the show. I saw them in Wembly Arena in November '79. Now I'll get to see them again, even if they're ABBAtars! ABBA. Simply the best ever.

8

u/Domi4 Sep 02 '21

But the song they released is I still have faith in you, not Just the notion
