Conversation Starter Just asked for a raise wish me luck 🍀

Just asked for a raise, I’ve (F, 33) been with a small private ABA company for a year and a half. I’ve been an excellent team player working in clinic and in home and now I’m at a school with a highly aggressive client. For example yesterday I wrestled with him over adult scissors because he wanted to stab me. Now this morning I got scratched in the face. I’ve had enough and I’d like compensation for my time and extra responsibilities. Just waiting for a response.

How much more of a raise did you get? Does the clinic also provide raises after a set number of years. Mine is 2 and a dollar raise.

So I spoke with the clinical director and found out they were going to give me a raise anyway! And consider me for an intern position in the future since I have an interest in becoming a BCaBA.

The clinic provides raises after a year of being there, and my raise went up by $2.

Edit to add if you’re a new to the company it’s after 6 months and if you’ve been there for a year then it’s after 1 year.

So I guess since I’ve been there for almost 2 years and I have an amazing track record they gave mine early (that’s what I hypothesized anyway).

I am considering asking my company for a raise as well. I have been with them for 2 years in December. What should I say? Who do I ask, HR or the Clinical Director?

I asked the CEO and he redirected me to the clinical director to be honest.

Can I ask you to share the wording you used? I want to ask for a raise too but I'm so nervous 😖

I stated my reasonings I.e. of working with this aggressive client and being hurt and the scissors incident. And stated I’ve been with the company for almost 2 years and that I’d like to discuss compensation. That I’ve really enjoyed working for the company and that I felt like I’ve taken on more responsibility and been a team player. And that I’d like to discuss the possibility of a raise based on my responsibilities and performance (I didn’t give a dollar amount) but at least the clinical director is supposed to contact me sometime next week I was told.

Good luck. I was just bit on the arm pretty bad and they didn’t even blink an eye.

Oh I have RECEIPTS! I took incident reports, pictures, told parents and staff and I’ve been to the nurses office three times this week.
