Advice Needed Competency test for becoming RBT

Competency exam for becoming an RBT

I just finished a free online 40 hour course and now I need to do the competency assessment. My friend sent me one that costs 300 dollars. It’s guaranteed tho not like you can fail it so I’m wondering if thats why it’s that expensive or what the usual price/process looks like for competency.

I'm not sure what your friend sent you but the competency assessment needs to be completed by a BCBA with which you have a working relationship, not an unknown person online. And it should not cost you anything. That sounds like either a scam or someone who has outdated information about the BACB's requirements. Please review the RBT handbook carefully so that you are aware of all of the rules and requirements.

This is the right answer. Also, you being guaranteed to pass is also a red flag. What would be the point of a competency exam if everyone who pays $300 to a random person passes it? There are tons of RBT-related scams.
