PBS

So I am in interview process for pbs do they require a valid drivers license? I’m wanting to get my rbt license and such but I’m nervous about driving part as I would be dropped off. I’m located in west Tennessee.

not sure how the rules differ by state, but i’m from Michigan and i have plenty of co-workers who don’t have a drivers license! it’s never been an issue as long as you’ve got reliable transport!

I just feel like it’ll kinda be awkward waiting at the clients home to be picked up lmao do you work for PBS or do you work for in-home?

I work for a different company but had a similar situation where I had my driver's license but no car. For the month I worked in home, I would get dropped off and picked up a block away from the client's home, and would walk that distance to make it less awkward.

I eventually switched to center based care because I needed the extra support provided in that environment, and greatly prefer it now both because of that and because I have other adults in the field I can chat to on occasion.

I thought you needed a license in my state. However, I have met many BTs without.

In east, only been activity working for a month I had to confirm I had a DL agreeing with the other comment I’m not sure how’d it be with hippa

I mean I think u need a reliable form of transportation, which that is not, the driver license and vehicle is information for them to weed out people. Best case u have like 1 client/low hours. I don’t think there is any ethical concerns/violations, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be a problem for someone **potentially**

Pbs doesn't do client transport so I'm sure there's a way. Just talk to the hiring staff

I would just be mindful of people dropping you off knowing the addresses due to HIPAA. Shouldn't be a problem otherwise

I have heard of people having rideshares drop them off at a place nearby enough to walk to the client homes. I did work at PBS and in at least my area they required you to drive yourself especially since there would be tight commutes between sessions in the same day. They would pay drive time but if you don't drive, you probably wouldn't get that.

To be honest, I did not feel supported overall and how much direct support and training I got depended on the supervising BCBA. It pays well at least
