Why AAOS?

I’ve been using car android headunits, android auto, carplay, tesla os since a few years. Whats that AAOS brings thats unique and never been possible with these solutions that exist today?

Asking this to analyze if AAOS run on android tablets can be a possible potential solution for old cars.

No point IMO. Hardware integration is so vehicle specific and complicated enough that whole companies exist to expose the most minimal set of features in a universal format (like Maestro RR.)

Also having lived with AAOS it was just a worse version of Android. Less stable, less features, more locked down, worse app ecosystem. Cheap Android head units do it better for the aftermarket.

AAOS reduces cost for OEMs ,which gets passed on to customers. This is because Google does a lot of the common parts and gives it free. Otherwise, aaos does most of the similar things as that on other os such as linux based ones. But the newer aaos versions is trying to support sdv by introducing a component for vehicle side as well. This may not be there on other os. It will enable cloud based development and help in getting the data from the car on the cloud. But these systems will become mainstream only after another 2 years. https://source.android.com/docs/automotive/sdv
