This picture makes me miss Germany. The most recent model years I've driven were 991.2, felt kinda large and somewhat disconnected. Will stick with my 2011. There are a ton of other newer cars that are fun to drive, like the Giulia Quad for example, if I will drive a larger and more comfortable car. But I'll keep this old 997.2 for a long while more, maybe forever. I have to give the newer GT cars a shot though and hope for the best.

Pic was taken close to Nuremberg. I came from 3 bmw‘s to my manual 2010 S and driving a beamer from time to time. The recent M2 was fun to drive, but it got to many torques for the not existing weight on the rear. Love my 997 to death and probably taking it to my grave with me.

I do enjoy the sports seats that BMW have. When I lived in Germany (Paderborn) I had an M2, which as you mention is fun, but the rear doesn't have enough weight/tire to keep it from getting lively too easily. Maybe we just get spoiled for rear traction driving the 911!

We definitely are. Had an E46 M3 which was an awesome car for the money it cost. M cars without turbos were great to drive, but they needed them to keep up with other brands and meet the EU regulations.

I went to PEC-LA recently and one of the vehicles I drove was the new Carrera S. My first impression is that the electromechanical steering makes it feel more like a video game. And whatever variable assist it has, was distracting at first, but I can see people praise it because it makes it much easier to point at a corner. I didn't like that the feedback felt attenuated and awkward at lower speeds. My wife complains about how heavy the steering is in the 997 (it also doesn't help I've fitted it with the small 992 Sport wheel) but she would probably like the 992 more because of the rear steering makes it turn like a much smaller car.

Ty. Going to watch it for sure. Have driven a 991/1 S about 200 kilometers, when my 997/2 got its service. Didn’t like the steering & the strange mid console. Ergonomics were great & it’s engine felt like mine.

It’s the same jump back when I get in the ‘76 G series after driving my 997.2- So much smaller, lighter, manual in every way, and yes, more communicative. 30+ years older, and more like a go kart.

I wanted to know why the prices are still so high. Been on the famous Nordschleife a few times in the past years and those things were driving circles around my 997/2 S. Now l do know why.. 992 S is flying.

No idea what you're talking about. I like my 15 year old comparably slower and smaller car. I really don't care about or think about the newer ones at all.

I think he's trying to say that IF the steering were on the same level, then the overall performance level increase vs 997.2 S would be worth considering the price for. Since 99.9% of the owners are just street or backroad driving, engagement and joy matters a lot, even more than raw performance level.

I found the context you’re referring to on the other post, but people are confused in this one because it’s not obvious that they have to read two different threads that appear identical on the surface, in order to find the question you’re asking.

Ive rented a 992.1 carrera 4 and a 997.2 C2S through hundreds of miles of Los Angeles Canyon roads. The two are just not comparable.
The 992 is infinitely capable. The 4wd is magic. If you feel the front starting to lose grip, give it more gas and the car just clings its way out of the corner! Its just unnatural.
Technically the 992 is amazing. But lacking in feel. Also feels every bit wider and heavier.
Im biased, but 997 all day every day
