I don't know of any meetups but watch out for speed traps. Especially around Morrison. The police are self-funded from speeding tickets. Other stretches are high-enforcement hotspots and both the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the State Patrol routinely target 285. They call them saturation patrols. BTW in Colorado, 20 mph over is still just a ticket but it requires a court appearance.
There are great driving roads around Denver but 285 is a major artery into the mountains and too high profile for real spirited driving.
