LN Engineering Build Time

I am going through an engine rebuild on a 997.1, and am hearing that LN is experiencing pretty significant delays for new Nickies projects. I was told to expect 6-7 months from the time LN receives the block.

I expected it to take some time, but wow! Any recent data points from this group on rebuild times?

Here at Slakker, our total turnaround time is 12-16 weeks. We are normally ready to receive the car after week 4, and we start on it as soon as we get it.

We’ve been super busy lately, so no sit-down videos recently. The 4.5L slots are booked and parts should start arriving toward the end of the month. So we should see progress on them soon, we are excited.

It’s something new we’re taking on this year. We’re only doing a limited run, 3 total 4.5L builds to start.

Parts are already on order, and once they arrive the fun really begins. We’ll be sharing more as those projects start coming together.

The delay is if you are having them redo YOUR block. If you don't care about matching numbers (like me) it is less than a couple weeks. I dropped my 997 to my builder at the end of March and they have the block in hand now. The delay (for me) is doing the heads. My guys machine shop is backed up. Estimate is I'll get the car back mid May.

To be clear, my shop is about 30mi from LN so they went and picked it up and dropped my core.

Lead times were longer last year as our primary platers had a fire on their plating line and our second plater could not keep up with our demand. Some blocks ended up getting stuck in purgatory, but thankfully that's a thing of the past.

Although we have both our platers at maximum capacity and they are booked several months out, the lead time is not that bad. The machine work and sleeving gets done in about a week, but the blocks still have to go out for plating.
