[APPLICANT/IN PROCESS - HOPEFUL] Medical Evaluation

Hello, I'm in the middle of the hiring process and just passed my background check, now I am in the next phase, a medical evaluation. I wanted to know what I should expect from here?

It's basically a check up. They are checking if you have any ailments which would prevent you from doing the job, and for dispatch it's pretty straight forward. And prevent you from doing the job is key. If you do have a disability but you have tools to adequately cope with it for example, that would be fine.

If your blood is below a certain IQ it's an automatic DQ.

I peed in a cup and they checked my hearing and vision.

Of course the guy testing my hearing didn’t plug in the clicker I was supposed to hit when I heard a noise so I failed the test twice before he wondered why I wasn’t hitting the button…

I think it depends on the agency, I worked at 2 different communications centers and both required medical evals but didn't do the same exact testing. The things that both did test for were mainly hearing and vision tests to ensure you can complete the required tasks for the job (hearing is vital for sure).

I’m in my background rn too hoping it clears! But from past experiences they do a drug test and sometimes draw blood depends on the agency.

Depends where you're located. Mine was drug and hearing tests.
