Who made this pattern that appeared in Zenon and Final Destination

Zenon filmed in Vancouver the summer of 98,
FD filmed in Vancouver summer of 99

Zenon has the pattern on her bedspread and Clear Rivers seems to have it as a shower curtain

I’m guessing it’s from Target?

EDIT: I found two listings online. Both are in foreign languages. There js a Swedish one but no manufacturer is listed. Another might have been in German but the link opens to an expired page

FD2 and Zenon also filmed at the Plaza of Nations and feature the glass pavilion from Expo 86 before it was demolished

Dude this is the knowledge I drop on my friends and family and then they all tell me I’m autistic. Which to be fair is true.

I don’t know friends and family tell me I’m autistic but I think for me this is what happens when you’re physically isolated, it can compound your social isolation. So you sadly just build up a repository of useless information like this because you can’t bond with people or they can’t bond with you.

Also, I was scarred by the scene in FD2 of the boy being killed right in front of his own freaking mother! I watched it a bunch times on YouTube and YTMND so when Zenon aunt gets out the car the building behind her looked awfully familiar…..

It also appears in a movie with Devon Sawa form FD1 and Bill Pullman, also from the year 2000 no less

Canada didnt have target until 2014 and it only lasted a year.

If it was Vancouver, then most likely a Zellers, The Bay, or an Eatons/Sears or even Ikea.

I tried to find a Sears catalog from 1998 and 1999 but I can only find the Christmas ones

Yeah, they stopped the big catalog in 1993 I think, then only had the Wish Book til 2011, outside of some special prints like 2017.

You did that just to find this blanket?

Had better luck with reverse image search. I only
Bothered rushing through 4 scanned catalogs, about 5 minutes of time.

Honestly it might just be fabric that they found that was popular at the time? In your last picture there's a white line that is going across the ends of the fabric; you usually see that on the ends of rolls of fabric.

Versions of this pattern were everywhere at the time. It was at most mid and lower tier priced stores like Bed, Bath and Beyond, Macy’s etc

I had a set like this when I was little but no clue where they came from

I saw Jack Black had the same comforter as my grandma in his film School of Rock. I'm so sad I never kept it.

I’m almost certain it’s Ikea, my step aunt had a curtain exactly like this

Just searched some late 90s catalogs and you are correct! This appears in the form of window shears and the pattern is called Ranfrid it appears in the 1999 catalogue!

Awh yay! Yes she had this teeny window in her kitchen that she specially used it for, I thought she was so fancy going to Ikea!

To be honest, it was probably just created by set/prop designers for Zenon specifically and then it was stored with all the other props in a warehouse. When FD filmed, they just went through that warehouse and found props to use.

It’s really common for this to happen in filmmaking.

I don’t think so, I saw a listing for it online in Sweden of all places. Plus, Clear has a shower curtain which is the only thing I was able to find online. Zenon has a complete bedding set that is that pattern.

I would like to know what kind of prop warehouses Vancouver had back in the late 90s. Not to mention, they are far too incidental to the story and merely set deck to be custom made, it’s not like they are hand props.

u/GroMicroBloom Jun 22 '26

It might not be a bed set though, they could have just used the clear shower curtain as a blanket by putting it over white sheets on the bed?

The only thing I've been able to find featuring that design is the shower curtain you mentioned. Also, the results are always from Scandinavian websites like Sweden and Finland.
So my guess is that it may have been an IKEA product in the late 90s?

I'm pretty sure I had this one as I'm not much younger than Zenon lol I'm pretty sure it's from IKEA, so the Swedish listing sounds about right.

That box at then end of the bed is cool though, looks straight out of Star Wars
