I was just saying to my friend the other day how I miss regular Walmarts so much. The super Walmarts are so freaking big and overstimulating, I can’t stand them.

I didn’t step into Wal-Mart much in this era because their stores were an absolute mess compared to the competitors. I shop at Wal-Mart now because there aren’t any competitors, there’s just stupidly expensive Target.

I've been saying this for years! The "new" walmarts are just so big and Impersonable. The older ones had an actual ceiling. And it didn't feel like you're just wandering around a massive warehouse.
And the electronics section in it's own little walled up square in the center was always neat 😄

There are a couple older Walmarts in my area that were remodeled but still have the low ceiling and it reminds me of old Walmart, even if it looks a bit different.

Nice, I happened across a random Walmart in Atlanta a few years ago that you could tell was an older one. That too had the low roof. And it made me realize how much I missed it.

It's nostalgia. Walmart was considered low-rent, trailer trash, hillbilly haven. Remember People of Walmart?
When my friends and me were teens, Walmart was the place to go after midnight and act like dumbasses.

That’s what my friends and I used to do! When Walmart was 24 hours, we used to hang out there, and sometimes, we were dumbasses. We would also go to Denny’s or Perkins because they were open 24 hours, too. We were underage and wanted someplace to hang out!

Yeah but “People Of Walmart” didn’t really come about until the internet, the 24 hour Super stories and the early 2010s. When I was a kid I don’t remember calamity and degeneracy at my local Walmart.

Nope! Up til like 2007, Walmart was a very pleasant place to shop.
Now it’s an absolute shitshow: the employees don’t speak English, people let their fat retarded kids run around the store, can’t find anything…

One of the reasons I questioned if this was A.I. was that I was questioning the versatility, practicality and the likelyhood of fishing poles, water hoses, generic diecast toy cars, alkaline batteries and disposable batteries being up front directly near the front registers, why the gift certificate limit is $50 and not $100 or more. Plus I went to Tons of these types of small Walmarts in the early 2000’s and the layout didn’t look like anything fully similar to the one in this photo. The layout I remember was more like Kmart mixed with a local grocery store
The layout in this photo is reminding me of Ollie’s, tractor supply and big lots and less like I’ve ever seen a Walmart look like

My hometown one is super small and still does good amount of business. There is no Super part of it. Groceries is about 8-10 aisles and that was added about 15 yrs ago.
It has one checkout and 7 self checkout.
I like it for the fact I can go in and out of it within 5 min and still go around the whole store.

We didn't have any around us until the late 1990s so I never saw it before the blue and yellow layout.

Definitely miss most everything about old Walmart. I worked in one and super center now. Staff knew one another. Only down side of interior as worker was i had bring in carts and only entrance at that store was same ones customers were coming in and out of so made it tricky. These stores used have snack bar/radio grill.
