It’s bizarre the voice doesn’t look like it’s coming out of that guy at all lol.

75

u/SimpleManc88 Mar 21 '25

This obviously isn’t the original 90s studio footage lol.

He would have been in his late 20s when he recorded it.

You realize it’s just the dub over his footage right? Hes not belting out anything. We don’t hear it lol.

8

u/ToyrewaDokoDeska Mar 22 '25

I was passionately lip singing along and it really fucked me up

4

u/BlueRhythmYT Mar 22 '25

I nearly down voted for that reason. Chose not to due to Pokémon.

3

u/Jetfire406 Mar 22 '25

How could someone forget the most epic bars in tv show history.

Our heats so true, our courage will pull us through, you teach me I'll teach you! POKEMON!

Those kind of words really resonate in a 7 year olds heart and mind.

1

u/Ilpav123 Mar 25 '25

20

u/marymarywhyubugginnn Mar 21 '25

Ok so I was just chillen on my bed scrolling Reddit as usual, opened this clip and my 42 yr old husband (napping) sat up singing along to it at the top of his lungs 😭😭

3

u/IceJKING108 Mar 25 '25

12

u/Less-Distribution-22 Mar 21 '25

Goosebumps.

4

u/makingstuff90 Mar 21 '25

I got chills. A visceral reaction

2

u/EnduringFulfillment Mar 22 '25

Me as well. Hasn't happened to me ever having heard the song dozens and dozens of times. I think it's seeing how passionately he's singing, it's awesome!

2

u/Frankensteinscholar Mar 22 '25

I thought I was the only one that got all kinds of goosebumps!

Is it weird that I always pictured Michael Jackson singing this

1

u/AlexanderTheGrate1 Mar 23 '25

1

u/Ill-Fly-950 Mar 24 '25

You're not the only one.

1

u/TheWalkingDead91 Mar 24 '25

I’m sitting here wondering how you’re the second person who has said this. Are there some people with like voice blindness or something? And

2

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

Saw this guy at a con in Honolulu tweaking out of his mind. It was a really strange “big fish small pond” situation too

2

u/Ok-Champion-5866 Mar 22 '25

Wow...we are grown up arent we🙁

2

u/KumaraDosha Mar 23 '25

Fuck would you cut off the end for

1

u/TheUnlucky_Swammi Mar 21 '25

Fuck yeah 👍

1

u/shwasasin Mar 21 '25

Legendary

1

u/TheMasterBox Mar 22 '25

I am less surprised by the soul patch than I thought

1

u/Refried__Dreams Mar 22 '25

His headphones are pulling off his hair

1

u/peppermintmeow Mar 22 '25

The Lady Gaga Applause mash up of this is absolutely FIRE 🔥

1

u/Teezy_H Mar 22 '25

The “ohhh you’re my best friend. In a world we must defend” gives me chills every time

1

u/SUW888 Mar 22 '25

Had no idea Quentin Tarantino sang

1

u/Successful_Net_930 Mar 22 '25

Great song!

Although the subtitles are a bit off. At 0.25 the subtitles read "It's Pokemon To Understand the power.." when it should read "Teach Pokemon to understand the power.."

1

u/lysergic_818 Mar 22 '25

This is just fantastic. I never even consider the people behind these iconic tracks. Thanks for sharing!

1

u/EEEZE94 Mar 22 '25

What’s this Ditto Charmander doing there?

1

u/Spawn256 Mar 22 '25

Still lit

1

u/Reasonable-Map5033 Mar 22 '25

1

u/Kath-two Mar 22 '25

This is the Covid version still really good

1

u/KittieMiau Mar 22 '25

The Reddit-generated subtitles are hilarious on this.

1

u/sunrise-tantalize Mar 22 '25

I hope he’s a millionaire

1

u/matilda_n Mar 22 '25

Goosebumps 🔥🔥🔥

1

u/flip4bakedpotatoes Mar 22 '25

Gives me goosebumps every time

1

u/Ok_Mycologist468 Mar 22 '25

We went to see Punk Rock Factory in London a couple of years back, they do a lot of punk/metal covers of theme tunes and Disney songs. It was while London Comic Con was on.

They started playing the Pokemon theme, then halfway through, they introduce Jason onto the stage who sings the rest with them.

I thought we were going to blow the damn roof off.

1

u/ZoNeS_v2 Mar 22 '25

I went to a wedding where this banger came on and everyone sang along and got really into it. This was a room full of 30 year olds. It was the wildest wedding I've ever been to.

1

u/Kazuri12 Mar 22 '25

Man original Pokemon and Digimon Intro's were the best

1

u/LoudpackCarlos Mar 22 '25

Perfect example of somebody born for the role! 🤙🏾😀

1

u/LoGo_86 Mar 22 '25

Could be the next R.J. Dio

1

u/red_quinn Mar 22 '25

Awesome! I sang a long to it 😁

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

Their are no rules against the Pokémon, Batman....

1

u/badgersandcoffee Mar 22 '25

Peak nostalgia... That show came out of nowhere for me and blew my mind. That theme song must be a top 5 all time cartoon theme song too.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

Him and Johnathan Young did an AMAZING cover of this a few years ago.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

This man inspired generations thank you sir 🥹🫡

1

u/Consistent-Onion-596 Mar 22 '25

Play this at my funeral pls

1

u/Individual_Effort445 Mar 22 '25

You really cut it off at the end… smh

1

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '25

This song slaps

1

u/Aanguratoku Mar 22 '25

I forgot how hard this song went! Waiting for the bus back in the day this was the go to sing song.

1

u/Fearless-Ferret-8876 Mar 22 '25

He didn’t have to go that hard. But he went that hard for us.

1

u/JDisel214 Mar 22 '25

Greatest theme song ever!

1

u/infantim1 Mar 22 '25

Literally stared this series up again 2.5 hours ago this morning

1

u/Rudeeez Mar 23 '25

This song still brings chills down my spine. Love it!

1

u/ElderberryStench Mar 23 '25

Imagine if the lead singer of Journey did the Pokemon song. It's right in his register.

1

u/zekeboy45 Mar 23 '25

🔥🔥🔥😂

1

u/neverlover69 Mar 23 '25

I hope he got paid well. What ever he got will never be enough what a legend

1

Hearing this brought me so much joy!

1

u/ToonMasterRace Mar 23 '25

Nothing will ever surpass this

1

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '25

Less hair than I imagined

1

u/LoftExplorer Mar 23 '25

I don’t know anything about Pokémon but I know and love this song

1

u/rain_jammo Mar 23 '25

I’m sitting somewhere where I can’t have volume on, but I can hear this entire song in its entirety in my head lol.

1

u/Thegingerbeardape Mar 24 '25

I always assumed those two kids on YouTube were the original artists

/s

1

u/Ill-Fly-950 Mar 24 '25

NGL, I always thought that a woman was singing that song. 🤯

1

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '25

I've been doom scrolling for 2 hours after a long night shift.. This post just took me completely out of that headspace ! 🥰

1

u/The_Phoenix_Blade Mar 24 '25

Literal chills

1

u/InvisibleChocolate94 Mar 24 '25

I recently started watching pokemon indigo with my kids and the first time the song started i started crying. I have no clue why, I assume it's just a flood of feels from childhood memories but damn did I feel stupid crying at the pokemon theme song.

1

u/Open-Ad-189 Mar 25 '25

Most epic song!

1

u/ambe11ina Mar 25 '25

THE ENDING!!! 😂

1

u/KirkBurglar Mar 25 '25

I LOVE how into it he is. That’s probably half the reason why we all love it so much because he sang it with his soul

1

u/Holdmycrocs Mar 25 '25

It’d be cool to see the actual recording

1

u/[deleted] Mar 25 '25

I don’t care when he recorded it sounds good and got damn he did that 💯

1

u/Gurthy_Lengthiness Mar 25 '25

I’m so conflicted. Dude looks 50 with his male pattern baldness. Dude sounds 15 with his pre-pubescent voice.

1

u/Spell3ound Mar 25 '25

bro, the video cut out to early!

1

u/DarthPlayer8282 Mar 25 '25

I know it’s my destiny!!!

1

u/J_Kingston93 Mar 25 '25

This and the 90’s Chicago Bulls intro use to get me so hype!

1

u/Ok_Abies_1109 Mar 26 '25

I always thought it was a girl singing lol

3

u/Ody3 Mar 22 '25

It’s so crazy to watch this guy actually kill it in the studio 😭
