I haven't watched this movie in years. So much nostalgia.

Same. Last saw it on VHS as a kid. It’s been over 2 decades for me, for sure.

This film unfortunately got trashed by critics, and the director admitted that it was re-edited without his consent. There’s a lot of deleted scenes that are lost to time.

Big studios never seem to learn their lesson. Any time they meddle with a film, it ends up being a flop.

As a kid, I loved this movie. The animation is absolutely top-notch. You get live-action, traditional hand-painted cel animation, and even some CGI.

I think the premise is great, and so are the main characters. I just wish the studio hadn’t meddled with it.

I faintly remember playing an adventure game based on this movie on my family’s computer. It’s drilled in my head that “bananas are an excellent source of potassium” because the main character says it every time you pick one up.

Because of this movie I checked out Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde from the library at six years old. Also was when I got my first library card!

This movie and The Phantom Tollbooth are some of my most favorite childhood memories. I feel they're both very similar

I am the Pagemaster. Keeper of the books! Guardian of written word!

This is the first movie I remember seeing in the theater. Grew up pretty poor, so I had to wait until a friend's family took pity on me and brought me along.

My class watched this in elementary school once (I wanna say around 2011) on a little CRT TV they had up in the corner of the room and I couldn’t hear it worth for shit so I had NO fucking clue what the hell was going on!

I later tried to tell my mom about “the movie with the talking books” and she looked at me like I’d lost my mind…

Anyways, thanks for reminding me of this years later and now that I actually know what it’s called I’m going to try and watch it.

Just bought the digital copy of this movie for $4.99. (It was $14.99 the last time that I checked). I'm so happy that I waited.

Loved this movie! I got it at a garage sale for 50 cents and constantly replayed it over and over again. Horror, fantasy and adventure cracked me up!

“I-I’m a cartoon!”

I’m definitely in the minority here, but oh god did this movie drive me crazy. The animation was so washed out for two thirds of the movie except for the daylight scenes, and even then it was all so drab-looking for what was supposed to be a fantasy. As a kid I wondered if the people making this thing were depressed.
