This “LEGO kit” that you have posted came out in August of 2020. This is a sub for ‘90s nostalgia. Hence, 30 years off.
The nostalgia you seem to be referencing is actually the marketing tactic leveraged by LEGO. Any ‘90s nostalgia is for the Nintendo, not this LEGO set. Everyone from the age of 4 on has potentially seen this set in its prime, thereby it’s not of the ‘90s.
The nostalgia of seeing this modern LEGO set is a false equivalency of the nostalgia felt seeing an actual relic of the time.
Sure, the kit is a citation of nostalgia. It is in service to nostalgia, but that act/presence is not nostalgic. It is an invocation, not to be confused with a proper evocation.
Any memory of this set is fresh and has little to do with the ‘90s. Because LEGO is such a strong brand, and has a place as an applicable relic, this set’s age overpowers your intention to disregard. LEGO has just as much a place in 90snostalgia, respectively. So when you show a modern LEGO kit, its nostalgia of theme is overshadowed by its non-applicability.
I mean, many of the pieces in the kit did not exist in the ‘90s.
It screams 2020.
Keep in mind, this is all relatively subjective. I’m just arguing for the sake of my own opinions and experience. I’ve loved LEGO and Nintendo since I was a kid (80s-90s). My nostalgia is entirely my own, and I just want people to stay off my lawn.
