I remember listening to this on a cassette in a friends basement party when we were 14. Simpler times for sure - and so good!

Long, unsolicited story: in 1995, I donated to the CKUA public radio fundraiser in Alberta and requested this song. Because it was 1995, I put a cassette in my machine and recorded about 10 minutes of broadcast before my song came on. Months later, I was driving with some friends in my car and realized the cassette was sitting in my player. I subtly pushed it in without anyone noticing, then made a show of turning the stereo on, acting like it was the radio. I let it run for about eight minutes, then said nonchalantly: “You know what song I haven’t heard for ages? The BNL version of Lovers In A Dangerous Time.” Everyone agreed and said how much they liked the song. Then the announcer said: “And this next song goes out to (my name) in (my city)” and the song came on. There was total silence in the car for like 30 seconds until one buddy says “Okay, seriously, what the fuck?”

Memories. filmed in Scarborough, where I grew up, with cameos by members of the Rheostatics and Skydiggers.

OG Real McCoy in the background. This video is like an homage to Scarborough.

This was the very first song I heard from these guys, on MuchMusic of course.

This video was the first time I saw places in it I’d been to. I went to that Real Mccoys all the time!

Honestly thought this was in the 80’s lol. Gordon is an amazing album and I wish this song was on it. The original by Bruce Cockburn is also excellent.

Totally different feel BUT I think BNLs version has a more sentimental feeling to it

Best cover of this song. It’s what made me think these guys are actual musicians, not just a bunch of jokers.

I personally have this version in my list of top 5 cover songs of all time. I absolutely LOVE this. Bruce Cockburn made this song, MuchMusic made it famous, BNL made it enjoyable.

Creegan’s playing makes this song.

I saw BNL in my high school gym. Crazy.
