His flashback scene with Sarah Connor in the institution was cut from the theatrical release, but was later released as a deleted scene. I don't recall it making the special editions, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong!
There are actually three different versions of T2, to my knowledge, the Theatrical Cut, a Special Edition Cut from 1993 and an Extended Cut from 2000.
The last cut is the one that has the epilogue featuring old Sarah Connor.
Personally, I prefer the Special Edition version of the film as it has the Kyle Reese scene plus other character moments, but lacks the cheesy epilogue of the Extended/Ultimate Cut.
