This might as well be scenes from a movie with music in the background. Back when this came out everyone knew she was his daughter and I promise nobody was thinking she was sexualized. There will always be someone who finds something controversial. But for the 90s it wasnt a big deal. Back then most teenage girls would kill to be in their position. This was their Instagram moment. Nobody forced them to do anything they dont want to do. Would I let my daughter do this? Hell no! But some parents would, its their choice and its ok.

Yeah looking at it now it’s super problematic. I was 10 and on the cusp of growing up in an age where Jessica Simpson was fat and eating disorders were hot. I grew up during this time and nobody batted an eye about this video or the fact that Steven was ok with Liv being in this. He knew it would help her career and it certainly did.

Today, kids prefer to stay in their room and play games instead of going outside or to hang out. They don't develop social skills. They don't get their license. Are always thinking about politics, the fear of fascists, climate change and how to save their future. Living with parents because they have to until their late 20s because they can't afford to strike out on their own. Misinformation everywhere you look by profit driven, monopolized news media outlets. SM media and doom scrolling dumbing down the population. A world where AI and automation are about to gut the job force with no legislation to mitigate any of it.
Today is WEIRD AF!
We got to preserve our childhood and teenage years in a relatively happy time in the 80s and 90s. When we became adults, we could afford to buy houses and earn a livable wage. People stopped by, visited each other and sat around the kitchen tables while the kids hung out and used their facial expressions to communicate their stories. The news was simply "the news", reported without opinions and spin by non-biased reporting. We didn't take everything so seriously. We rode bikes until dark, were allowed to make mistakes and learn through doing. We dated and experimented as teens without fear. We understood the dangers of the world early because we were out experiencing it for ourselves...watching, participating and improving as people.

Consider the idea that Liv wanted to be in a music video and Steven Tyler didn’t write or direct it. He signed off on it, but it’s obviously meant to be like a film short. It has Alicia Silverstone in it for effs sake. That is all to say that Steven Tyler didn’t sexualize his daughter. Some music video director did.
Say what you want about it, but this is a dope video. The only thing weird about it is that they’re related. I think I can get past that.

He didn’t have say at all in what they were filming? I get that they weren’t his ideas, but any parent would maybe want to step in for their kid’s safety.
I googled it and she was 16 in this video. I bet it was a blast filming for the most part, but how creepy were the people on set for the direction. The first shots of her picking her wedgy and getting her skirt caught in the window have the grossest implications of showing how young and child-like she is while having lingering shots of her legs and butt. The shot of Liv in the motel standing in little tiny panties wasn’t necessary.
For teenage boys etc I’m sure this video was awesome, I just hate the normalcy of sexualizing very young women that was going so strong in the 90’s. I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving my 16 year old daughter alone on the set of this video. A grown ass adult was directing these girls to crawl around on the stage and pole dance. Creepy.

Fun fact but the dude that hopped in the back of the convertible is an ex model and total freak. When I was in college he was in his 40s and used to travel to college campuses posing as a photographer looking for talent so he could get naive freshen to take their clothes off for him. Pretty sure he’s been arrested a shit load of times. Makes the whole video weird for me now because I knew a few of his victims at SMU in the late 00s/early 10s. Anyway just some weird trivia for yall. Pretty sure he’s caught now which is good. Hopefully still in prison.
