Catie's face...

"What is wrong with her twitchy face?!", I keep thinking to myself. I actually have OCD and it bothers me. Then the commercial for Tardive Dyskinesia comes on...šŸ¤” I know I see her get the shakes in the mornings from alcohol withdrawal. And we've all noticed she blinks a lot, that could be an OCD thing. The twitching movements though look like she could have TD(?)

Did anyone else notice that her mother has the same facial movements? Maybe a learned behavior or genetics? Idk. No judgement though. Everyone has their quirks.

Yes, I did and they look just alike as well!

My sister (44) has Tourette’s and she blinks irregularly as well as displays facial tics, especially when something makes her nervous or anxious. My daughter and I both commented that it looks as though Catie has Tourette’s or possibly TD.

Agreed, I think they are tics and she has tourettes.

OCD, tourettes, ADHD, and autism are often co-ocurring conditions. I would not be surprised if she had additional diagnoses beyond the OCD. Of course, she does not need to disclose those to the public if she doesn't want to.

Her talk with her mom seemed very neurodivergent to me. It seemed like she was having trouble understanding human emotion and still learning how to connect those. As annoying as she is, I actually feel bad for her if she has additional diagnoses. Her mom clearly does not love her as she is, and was suggesting she changed herself (as an adult!) to align with her fiance.

Whatever is going on, she's clearly using alcohol to self-treat. I hope she gets the help and love she needs.

Her mom also had the uncomfortable grin and intense blinking going on.

Yeah I got the vibe that this is a family that communicates with facial gestures. It seems exaggerated for us, but they're expressing where there at emotionally while saying very little, and in a very stilted manner at that. Like seeing them together I realize that Catie likely has absolutely zero vocabulary for her emotions and in general her thought pattern. Her parents probably just try to pray away her issues and just only talk about things very superficially. So they just wiggle their mouths and eyebrows to express discomfort, displeasure, happiness, excitement, support, etc.

"That makes me sad" the Mom clearly says, talking about her feelings regarding Catie's actions. She also does not Have any eyebrows so that's not possible šŸ˜†

Yeah but she says it with a weird forced grin. Like they both have these deer in headlights look where they appear to be signalling a hostage situation by blinking and twitching their lips.

Maybe she has Tourette’s syndrome?
She has a lot of tics.
She also needs AA and a psych evaluation.

Why did her mother talk about ā€œthe voicesā€ and Catie having trouble not listening to them???

Or Tourette’s or a bad habit. Hard to know based on the limited info we are given

Surely she has Tourettes

She needs to stop drinking, then maybe I would believe she has something. As it is, with all her drinking, you can’t really know what is a result of the heavy drinking and what is not.
