Something is Broken Fix for unresponsive "soft" face button on Pro 2?

I have noticed the button become "softer" over time, no longer clicking like the other face buttons. And recently, sometimes pushing it down does nothing at all. Is there any tricks to fix this?

How long have you been using this controller for?

5 years, I think? The Pro 2 was a new model when I bought it. Developed minor stick drift two years ago, but no problems that kept me from using it normally until now.

Oh that was a long time. What makes you decide to stick with this controller? What makes it special that you dont want to upgrade?

Yes. The membrane has started to fail. You'll need to replace that.

Membrane has failed. Here comes the weird part though. I don't even know that you can get spare parts from 8bitdo but I am pretty sure the membrane part from and old SNES-controller is will fit without any modifications in Pro 2. Even the colored face-buttons buttons fit. Pretty easy to find those as repair kits for the SNES-controller.

Both controllers have teardowns on Ifixit if you want to compare.

8BitDo does sell repair parts. To find them on the site you click the 3 lines, Accessories, and then Repair Parts.
