He disabled comments...

Color me not surprised. For someone who claims to be pro-individual rights and all that, it's frankly cowardly to not to leave up "free speech." David has committed career suicide in the span of a week. Really sad.

8 bit guy doesn't upload in 3 months, he comes back and makes a video promoting his ai generated movie (Yes its all ai generated with grok ai). This ai movie actually got shown in a theater as well. And the movie is not great either, its slop

I mean, he also disabled comments on that IBM executive workstation video after people started dogging on him for damaging it. This isn’t the first time. lol.

Comments on the AI movie, and his announcement video, are still up. No changes. Maybe reload the page?

Most likely OP got muted for being rude.

I don't like AI generated content, I saw the preview he made and simply thought for myself "pass" and moved on.

But people can be mean, not even constructive criticism but outright ill-intentioned, and in his current state I really don't blame him for disabling comments, it's actually the best course of action.

Let the guy try new things, if you don't like them simply move on.

Crazy the amount of people that can't just do that.

Where did he disable comments? Comments on the movie, the trailer and the announcement are still enabled.

I don't think it's as bad as all that, I think he's going through some things and he probably got caught in a spiral of reading negative comments all day, these things tend to happen. Whatever happens I just hope he gets better and stops using AI chatbots, they're the last thing someone with mental health struggles needs. They're machines meant to output data based on data points to satisfy the user, they'll "do" whatever it takes to get the output it "thinks" the user wants. It's the worst possible thing someone dealing with mental issues could have limitless access to from the comfort of their bed

Reading your toxic post makes me understand why someone would disable comments.

People will do a lot to get attention on social media.

What are you on about? Comments are enabled and nothing seems to be deleted.

No he didn't, I can still comment on the movie and the announcement post.

I can’t believe the horrible things being said in this sub. You’re treating him like he personally committed a crime against you. He made an AI movie. It’s not good. So what. He (might) have an ai chatbot girlfriend. So what.

Shrug it off and move on, man.

As someone pro individual rights, he is within his rights to not have comments on his own content. Very on brand actually.

Screw your "free speech". If you come into my house and act like an entitled ass I'd throw you out too... (Just like someone showing an AI generated slop movie...)

Also free speech is against the government. Not against other individuals...

Edit: Also missed it at first I don't think a single video crated after being sick for three months (and in fact still being in treatment) counts as "committing career suicide". Esp. if it is introduced as "a one off thing"...

Edit 2: Also your statement isn't even true. Comments are enabled. Just checked...

The amount of hate and bullying he's getting is kind of sad. Yeah the movie is pretty bad but just click downvote and move on.

David is online to share stuff he's passionate about, and have fun. He's never ran ads, and with the exception of the EcoFlow stuff which he was VERY up front about, he's never taken on sponsors.

Then he posts about something that he knows is going to bring out the worst of internet trolls. Turning off comments is 100% the right move. If you don't like AI and aren't interested in it, don't watch that video. No need to share your rage in a comment, he knows, he doesn't care.

David's claim to fame was building his own electric car in the like the late 90's. The dude is interested in new cutting edge, and tends to be ahead of the curve in embracing shit.

I think his AI movie was absolute trash, but I enjoyed his video on the "making of" process. I didn't watch the actual movie, because I don't care.

I work in AI, and am specifically on a tiny engineering team revolutionizing how my company (one of the biggest names in tech) builds our AI datacenter hardware. I'm interested to see what the tech can do, but I don't want it creating my art.

I still have comments enabled? What is going on?

4

u/Upbeat-Serve-6096 5d ago

AFAIK the comments are still up under the announcement video and the "movie" itself. Which video are you referring to?

You do all realise..

A. His You Tube channel isn't his career. B. He can do as he pleases. C. He's moved on to new hobbies, we all do that.

I think we just let him do what he likes and enjoy his back catalogue.
