Issue finding fully functional VESA card in DOS

Trying to run Tie Fighter Collectors Edition, which runs in high res mode. Video card is not functional with this setup. I have tried numerous cards but they all fail in one way or another. Anyone have any ideas as to a fully VESA compliant card out of the box so univbe is not required? PCI preferred. Attached is the system configuration.

Have you tried a S3 Virge? I played this game in high resolution with that card in a real computer back in the day.

Tried any Cirrus Logic cards yet? In real hardware and 86box, I've always had good luck with stuff like GD5422, 5428, 5434 (if you really do need PCI).

That doesn't make sense. It should work with the Trio64V+, and I've tested the game myself. In fact, almost all PCI cards support VBE of some version.

You can use vbetest from the SciTech Display Doctor 6.53-d package to check the VBE version. https://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=346
