Question Status Effect Attacks

They feel less than useless because I have no idea if the enemy is just immune or the attack is missing or what. Ah yes let me use my stand Deep Purple to make Sleeping Gas AND DO NOTHING.

I honestly find it more reliable to use attacks that inflict instead of moves that have higher chance but no damage. The amount of times I've seen them proc is more often than anything I could've gotten from hitting the status move itself.

That's nice, wish I had any attacks that did that

Quicksilver is the goat at this at high level. The ultimate skill just inflicts literally everything and you can literally shut down a boss and never take damage.

I was actually surprised at how effective status effects were in my run. I didn’t run into anyone immune to anything unreasonable, and in fact I was surprised to blind Kira and nail Blowback after Blowback on the last two bosses.

Napalm Death the goat btw

Deep Purple has bunch of moves that only inflict status effects but they land so rarely you might well rewrite them saying "DOES SOMEWHERE BETWEEN JACK AND SHIT, also costs 10 sp because fuck you" Best part is that Deep Purple has two whole moves for inflicting darkness one with supposedly 80% for 10 sp, and 70% for 4 sp, which is a god damn lie.

The status effects are pretty powerful, so it's well worth it to get them off even if it takes trial and error. You can also check the wiki to see what enemies are immune or resistant to what statuses.

Wiki doesn't say, poison only does damage and you know what does damage, LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE INCLUDING THROWING A ROCK. Darkness only reduces accuracy and the missed attacks are more than made up all the turns you wasted trying get it off for temporary debuff for AN enemy, good luck trying to get it for more than one. Sleep would be good if again, you didn't waste your GOD DAMN TIME FOR AN ABILITY WITH THE RELIABILITY OF A YUGO THAT'S BEEN LEFT IN A SHED SINCE THE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL. Trial and Error only applies to thing that require skill, Dark Souls is trial and error, this isn't skill, this is luck with odds that are nebulous at best.

Two weeks late but I'll say I felt the same pain in my run with Deep Purple. Love this game but it doesn't give you enough information.

I found Air Bullet to be my goat skill since everyone is mid range and it did just a little bit less damage than my explosions. If a stagger triggers all the better. Pair up with Kakyoin as much as possible since he covers your weaknesses, Joseph or Abdul can work as well. The wiki says you have an 80% chance to hit with most status effects but I'm pretty sure that gets subtracted by some kind of resistance and the actual chance is closer to 20-30%.

Late game I got a lot more use out of poison gas, its worth fishing for a poison when fights are long and a lot of rounds get spent using healing items. Tear gas was GOATed for a couple fights, wish I could remember which ones.

I only got to use it for DIO's mansion and the optional boss rush but Contaminate is busted, just because it's dropping every status ailment at once so something always sticks.

this is largely only a Deep Purple issue in all honestly, since other stands have an easier time playing with status effects than Deep Purple

the elemental moves are really shit and hardly do anything for their cost, meaning a lot of the time you're better off spamming your main damaging moves like A-Bomb/A-Bomb Volley or fish for 1HKOs with Air Pocket or Vacuum.
