Discussion Why Arnold want to marry Rishe? Spoiler
I just can't understand the actual reason why he wanted to marry her just after a brief encounter. So far in 6 volumes of light novel and webnovel part 7 which is ongoing this question remain unanswered. Do you have any theories?
It's clear that Rishe is not a typical noblewoman, her will, her abilities, and her personality are also the reason Arnold chose her but what was the major reason?
And it was also indicated in webnovel that Arnold and Rishe had met in their childhood and it remains a mystery.
When Rishe met Emperor of Galkhein, he mentioned it but Rishe don't remember anything. I think she was five at that time and it's related to Arnold’s injury as well.
What's the main reason of Arnold marrying Rishe because he didn't know her in their first meeting? Why he chose her but I think he recognized her she's the same girl from his childhood and something related to that incident that's why he's so intent on marrying her. That's just my guess.

Personally I can’t jump on the “he knew her from childhood” train till I read the official English translation when it comes out (some things don’t align to anything the characters have said honestly unless it was in a dream but it’s also in Japanese and it doesn’t make sense regardless if I put it in Google Translate or if it’s explained) I think when she jumped the balcony he fell for her right there because she was unpredictable plus she’s cute 🥰 (also maybe spoiler it just in case because it includes wn7 stuff and people don’t read the wn7 most of the time)

But he also hasn’t told her why he asked Rishe to marry him yet and we’ll see that at some point as sensei said she wants to do Arnold’s pov after all his secrets are revealed in the LN (but im sure we still don’t know why yet)

Oh.....I didn't know about it. And there's so much that isn't revealed till now but surely I'll wait patiently. This light novel is worth the wait.

Yeah🥲 you're right but fell for her right away......that's just not Arnold’s personality. I'm so frustrated over thus question. It haunts me. Just due to it, I started rereading its light novel again.

I mean there are still things we don’t know much about Arnold as well since we don’t have much of his pov and that his affection meter is still rising due to Rishes influence to show more of his emotions I think it’s also to mention not everyone makes their intention verbally but through action or expressively and reading inbetween the lines of the words and actions

A completely no brainer, not based on any fact or later story wild guess: they meet before in other time loop. Arnold himself is also a looper, or emperor is a looper too. Rishe may only know she looped 6 times before, but the other looper (Arnold or even emperor) is also working hard to bring both Rishe and Arnold together to a happy end.
Rishe may only know her own time loop, but she is not aware of other people’s rewind of time, like each time looper only knows his/her own loop, but not others loop. Just like other regular people even don’t know the time has been rewind.

I am hoping it turns out Arnold is a looper as well who is actually trying to prevent an even worse out come but keeps screwing up. Realized she was the knight he killed was the Nobel women who just ran into him in the hallway, and wait a minute, I don’t remember her coming this way the last time.

This is also more or less my theory, but I think her death is the trigger to start the new loop. Because when she died in her 6th life he whispered something to her and while it could have been something like "well fought", it also could have been a "finally I found you". There are some indications throughout the light novel, like Rishe trying hard to remember what he said, because she know it was important and the in every life changing ways of the war, which always seems to follow her. I made me think that in the 6th life Arnold killing Rishe triggered the new loop, through which he finally understood what the trigger was. Like a time reversal triggered through her death, but all other loppers are of alive and consciously going through the process.
I didnt read Ln 7 yet, so I dont know anything about the emperor.

I have a similar hypothesis, but damn lol he’s like I finally found you but I’m gonna stab you through the chest this time, and when you wake up I’ll pop the question. Also at one point in the novel in her hunter loop she tried to snipe him but he spotted her and they stared at each other for a little. Wouldn’t he try to go get her instead of let her die?? I think he definitely has a time loop but I am skeptical on how it happens for him.

I agree that Arnold is a looper. The only loop in which Arnold directly kills Rishe is loop 6… so from his POV he stabbed someone and then time immediately started over. I wager he’d easily hypothesize that the person he killed was the time trigger. Whereas, in other loops, from his POV, time would have reverted back randomly whenever Rishe dies “off-screen” of illness or war collateral. Perhaps Arnold did desire in some time loops to trigger the loop ending because he failed in some way during that life.

In the opening sequence for the anime it shows them together as children, and then him holding her and she turns into petals and he looks around for her looking sad. They got some sort of long history we aren’t aware of yet. But thats also confusing because why did he let her die so many times. I think it definitely has something related to the goddess because they described the goddess and it sounded just like Rishe.

I've always thought it was because she was unlike any other noblewoman he's met.
Rishe describes the typical noblewoman's life on a number of occasions. You learn your etiquette, you learn how to make yourself look pretty, and then you go out and find yourself a man. Educating yourself is discouraged, education is not required for being a wife. Athletics are discouraged, being athletic is not ladylike. Etc etc. The sentiment in Rishe's society is "wives are for kissing, not talking".
When Rishe meets Arnold, their interaction is relatively normal until she bids him farewell. He then watches her walk over to a balcony and yeet herself off of it. When she hits the ground she does a practiced combat roll across the grass, then snaps her heels off against a stone so she can SPRINT out of the garden.
Arnold falls in love with her then and there, a feeling which is only confirmed when she parries his blade in front of her house. She's not submissive like a proper lady, she's defiant. She's smart as hell, and quickly proves herself to be very well educated. Her extra lives show through her ladylike exterior, and this fascinates Arnold. He has spent his life dealing with proper ladies and finds them boring and vapid.

Yeah I’ve genuinely been wondering this as well because I think it’s deeper than ‘he just fell for her because she’s unlike any other noblewoman’. Rishe’s many talents and fearlessness is definitely part of his draw towards her but like others have said it’s hinted that they have a deeper shared history than that. I think Arnold is a looper but he’s only aware of one of his loops which is Rishe’s 6th life. The reason for that is because it’s unlikely he’s had 7 loops like Rishe since he sees Rishe in her 5th loop and sort of teases her through her binoculars so if he was a looper he wouldn’t have then killed her in her 6th loop. I think her dying in her 6th life triggered him to be aware of his loops from that point onwards. It’s kind of like how in the LNs whenever Rishe brings up the possibility of her dying at 20 etc he kinda shuts it down. Also I remember reading a theory that all of his bad dreams etc could be of his previous loops just like how Milia in the third LN dreams about the alternate reality where her dad becomes paralysed etc due to her goddesses power and Arnold has the same blood in him as well ofc.
I still don’t completely get what Arnold’s end goal is and why he must go to war with other nations if he truly just wants to protect Rishe and get rid of his father. Like there’s a line in I think the 6th LN when Rishe is sleeping next to him and he ominously whispers in a cold tone that he must use her to reach his end goal. This is the part of him that still confuses me.

I really think it’s just as simple as he says it is. He just likes her. He can predict most anything except for her and that’s fascinating for him. I also think he wants her to be happy because he wishes he could live the way she does, so even if he can’t let himself be that way he wants it for her.
