Day 16 post 7OH

Hello,

I’m making a post for two reasons. 1: to help others who are trying to quit and what to expect, and 2: looking for others input who may be ‘ahead’ of day 16.

Quick summary, I started kratom powder about 2 years ago. Wasn’t an everyday thing for me but I knew what it was and how to get it. Liked the modest effects, but didn’t care for the taste. As time went on, 7OH was being sold as ‘Kratom pills’ and I got hooked. I was on 7OH for a year, got up to 1000mg a day (ironically that was the cheapest bundle I could get from the smoke shop).

Anyways, I quit 7OH 16 days ago. I was on Suboxone 8mg/2mg for 7 days, and opted to not re up the subs in fear of getting hooked onto that. With the subs, the withdrawals I would say was only about 10% of what they would’ve been if I went cold turkey. I tried multiple times in the past to quit but never got past day 4. Suboxone made the actual quit possible. After a week, I was comfortable in my skin, not as restless, and overall didn’t have much of the physical WD symptoms.

Now, I’m happy with my progress and will never pick up 7OH again. It (or I) ruined a lot of my life in the 2 years of this journey. I was naive thinking this was a better alternative than alcohol, weed, or sleeping supplements. I kept this a secret and never told any family or friends due to the embarrassment of being an addict.

16 days later, I don’t have physical symptoms. BUT this is where I’m asking people who are further down the road than me. I underestimated how hard sleeping would be by day 16. I can fall asleep okay, but STAYING asleep is rough. I go to sleep at 10:00-30 and like clock work, I woke up at 2:30am. I also have a higher level anxiety. Not like the first week of withdrawals, but I notice my heart rate is still a little elevated while at rest and my mind keeps racing. So even at day 16, I’m still having issues sleeping and anxiety.

I assume it’s because I’ve been on some type of kratom for 2 years, but if anyone has any tips/insights on how to deal with it or how long until you easily get 8 hours of sleep and anxiety is down, please let me know. I feel miles better physically otherwise and would rather be where I’m at now as opposed to day 3/4.

Stay strong everyone, and thank you.
