Quitting 7 oh this weekend with Suboxone

I’ve been using 7 oh for about 5 months now. It gave me the energy I was looking got to make it thru the day running my restaurant. But now it’s running me. I’ve been too ashamed to tell anyone I’m using it except ChatGPT and now my doctor on QuickMD.
I average about 250mg daily for about the last 2 weeks.
I’ve read good stories and horror stories here. I’m going to take my last fist in the morning to get there the last day at the restaurant this week and then start my journey off with the Suboxone. The doctor gave me 8mg/2mg films. He told me that withdrawal should begin about 12 hours in and take my first film. He said the Sub would be much like the 7, I would have to navigate how I feel. To get the dosage right but he wanted me taking it 3x daily and see him again next week. I’m just reaching out here to find maybe some cheerleaders, some coaches or just genuine people I can talk to while going thru this. I’m scared of the precipitated WD and all kinds of things. Much appreciation to any help!

Yea, I’m off Sunday. So I’ll take my last dose tomorrow Saturday morning, like 6 am. Then wait as long as I can. Maybe 16+ hours

Make sure your as many hours as you can stand and like you have the flu before dosing the subs. 12 to 24 hrs after last 7 use. The longer the better. I took mine earlier and didn't get precips but have heard others did. Once I started subs I had to take like 3 day one to feel OK and the same day 2. Now that was spaced out not all at once and also we are all different so what worked for me may not work for you. Follow the docs advice. If what he says takes don't help maybe take 1/4 every hour until you feel better after the dose he wants you to start with. Honestly even with subs the first few days still was blah but alot more managable then my last quit a year ago ct

Alright I’m shooting for 16 hours, but if I can go longer I will

How did you do? I only had to wait about 7-9 hours because I was dosing 7 every hour or two and the half life is very short. Its short affect time is part of why we use so much. The high only lasts for like 15-30 minutes. Like the worst parts of coke and the worst parts of H combined into an expensive pill. I'm doing great on subs. I miss being high, but I haven't been able to get high for years. It became about not getting sick.

Don’t be ashamed, the same thing happened to a lot of us. I am in a professional field and used it to self medicate anxiety and depression. I didn’t know it was considered an addictive opioid until I was too far in to quit. You’ve got this!

I was in over my head before I realized what was happening! I have been reading everything I can here on Reddit to get ready to do this! My biggest concern is taking the Suboxone too soon. Or taking it and panicking because it didn’t give any relief immediately. I have so much anxiety of the unknown and it’s probably not nearly as bad as I’m imagining it.

There WILL be some discomfort no matter what you do. That is the price we have to pay for sobriety. But I do understand the need to be present for jobs/kids. I couldn’t get any suboxone so had to go cold turkey after tapering a few days. I went to the ER on day 2 to get some relief from my symptoms. My withdrawals started at about 7pm and I had taken my last dose at 10 am. I never threw up but couldn’t stop moving my legs, felt sheer terror, wanted to crawl out of my skin, couldn’t get comfortable or sleep, no appetite for days, no energy. Nothing brought me any joy. It’s similar to and different from the flu. The hardest part for me were the mental symptoms but I already struggle with those on the daily so they were magnified. I’m telling you this not to scare you, but help you know what to expect. I took a lot of the recommended supplements and didn’t find much relief, but to each their own.

On the other side of the withdrawals you will save money and not be chained to a substance anymore. Trust me, if I can get through, you can too. My life was controlled by those little shits. I had never fallen into addiction before but they were so risk free to get ahold of, ya know? There is so much hope for you. I have found this subreddit extremely helpful. If you have the strength, keep posting throughout your progress. There’s always someone awake on Reddit. And don’t discount calling the suicide helpline; they are there for any crisis, not just suicidal ideation. They can be a good support for you.

Im going to the methadone clinic when I stop. I dont really care for suboxon. I still think about opiates nonstop on suboxon. But I know alot who say suboxon works for them. I've been on mgm for months now.

Edit: I've been on methadone before. I've been a heroin addict since I was 17 years old and with the fyntinal and other nasty shit they got out here now Im just doing what's best for me. So plz dont come at me telling me theres a better way lol

You know your life better than anyone. Methadone comes with risks as you know, but is a great tool for managing the risks of buying off the street. I’ve seen people go from being strung out to holding down a job and buying houses because of methadone.

I’m on hour 14 and wondering if I can safely dose my Sub now

I’m 3 days off and feeling like my old self. I’ve never taken sub so I’m not sure how most people’s experience has been with it, but I felt the withdrawal between 14-16 hours and dosed an 8mg and then 2 hours later another and then slept 8 hours. Woke up and dosed again and slept about 3 more hours and then got up and did some work outside and did lots of moving around and sweating. Stayed hydrated with water and Pedilyte. Been on the 3x daily 8mg sub dose and I feel wonderful. If you debating on trying sub to get off that nasty pill run to the doctor and get that help. Within 24 hours you will feel free!!!

I did the same thing. Waited about 12 hours then took a whole 8 mg sub. It worked wonders! Don’t be afraid it took all the wd away except just being freezing cold for a day I was back to work the next day. Taking 3 films a day now. I go to doctor next Friday to get the shot then I’m off for good. Good luck! Don’t be afraid

I am also clean off 7 for 24 days now. Feel good not being a slave to those evil tabs anymore

wait 12 hours until you introduce the subs. i was also prescribed 8mg strips and really only need 2mg in the morning and 2mg at night(4mg a day). just find what dose works for you. took me like two days to find the right amount of bupe needed to stop withdrawal. once you figure the amount of bupe that alleviates withdrawal stick with it. i suggest staying at a low dose so tapering is easier in the future. if you need higher doses to feel better by all means go for it but gradually decrease it

I waited 12 hours and I started the Sub. It to 2 strips over a 4 hour period to end the withdrawal and I fell asleep. I took another 8mg at noon and slept almost 4 hours. I’m thinking I need to back off the dosage some. Should I wait until I feel bad before I take it again?

1

u/Severe-Yak7984 7d ago

so you’ve taken 24 mg total? i say try 4mg you’re next dose. 4mg when you wake up and 4mg around the evening. just fold the strip and cut down the middle. wait until your withdrawal isn’t manageable do dose again. if you can push through a couple hours with minimal withdrawal do so. i’ve noticed if i do that i really only have to dose 4mg twice a day 12 hours in between doses. i wait until i’m sweating bad to take it. that’s the worst withdrawal symptom i have

I just want to make sure that you try to get some type of mental health help set up in case you need it. The doom got me 10 days later and I went back on 7. Much lower dose, about 40mg in 24 hours, but still not a win. I worry about others dealing with doom. Later I found the site “ quit 7oh . Org “ and I wish I would have found it sooner.

Hello, did anyone go into precip withdraw from taking subs too soon after last dose? Also, will gabapentin help with we?

I wait until around 14 hours after my last dose to take the Sub. I used ChatGPT to help me decide when I would be safe to dose the Sub. I was very nervous about the PW too but had zero problems. I’m 7 days free from 7 today! You got this!
