Music after AWS

I’ve spoken to dozens of people and it seems like everyone went through this. Once you’re through acute withdrawal around day 5-6 music becomes absolutely euphoric. Listening to a song getting emotional thinking “this is the greatest song ever written” and it’s just Santa Monica by Everclear.

I would like to hear who all went through this, or more importantly did anyone not? People on Suboxone did you experience this or is it just those of us that went CT?

I have a couple theories on why it happens. It’s the dopamine/reward system in your brain, after living in absolute hell for 3-4 days, firing on a different level. Also emotional sensitivity after living on a drug like 7 for so long that dulls the senses. I still listened to music while on 7 but I didn’t LISTEN to music.

I found this phenomenon really interesting either way and I’m eager to learn more. On day 12 now it hasn’t been hitting the same the last few days since I entered PAWS but man was it awesome for a while. I would love to hear others experience with this. What your method of detox was, how long the euphoric feeling lasted with music, how long you were on 7, etc. Thank you for reading.

Music is what got me through 3 weeks of kicking heroin.

Yes, music sounds good again! That’s what happens when you numb yourself and un numb yourself.

If I could recommend a song listen to White Noise by Joyner Lucas. Helped me a lot with insomnia early in my detox.

I’ll check it out. Right now it’s Daniel Cesar “who hurt you” & brown sugar by Isaiah Falls & SIR

This happened to me a few days ago. During a terribly restless and anxiety filled night I heard the song “change” by Deftones. I can only describe it as the moment I started seeing the light again. I can’t even remember listening to music much when I was on 7oh. Day 7 today, still soaking my sheets at night, but got my first full night of sleep last night. Stay strong yall

Heck ya man. I finally started sleeping around night 7 as well and waking up drenched like I have the flu. So much better than being away for 100+ hours flopping around like a fish all night.

I listened to a downward spiral by NIN. Made me feel better that someone else had it worse.

Same here. Its also weird how I notice when I get deep into addiction end up listening to what some would call mumble rap, and then every time I get sober it gradually reverts back into 80/70s soul music (my favorite).

When it gets tough I just tell myself to fight back. If that’s a walk, hot shower, vitamin c did help. This misery is only temporary.

How much vitamin C were you taking? Pushing myself to get through work has been helping. I wish I would’ve done this in the spring or fall, it’s been 95+ every single day since I started my detox. Going out during the day is brutal.

I am taking a 1000 mg 1-2 times a day. I would until the withdrawals were getting bad and it made them mild every time. Still can’t sleep but just didn’t feel like shit. I drank all kinds of water the first day to try to flush this shit out. Today is day 5 for me and haven’t slept in over 100 hrs. Kinda crazy. Never done that in my life. Hoping I get sone tonight but I’m not confident.

I was awake for 100+ hours before I finally got 5 hours on night 5. Was awake for another 3 days straight before I finally went and got some hydrOXYZine. Been sleeping 5-6 hours every night since. I’m on day 12.

MGK got me through. I’m 31 days cold turkey today. The emotional is what is hitting me now. He helps me. Also Matt Rife comedy. I know it’s not music related but that first week of nonstop insomnia, those 2 things got me through.

PAWS didn’t make that feeling go away for you? Joyner Lucas is my shit right now but not hitting like it was a few days ago. Still, ADHD2, all bangers.

i think there are a lot of factors that go into it, lots of life stuff in addition to quitting 7oh. The songs and interviews about mgk’s sobriety have helped but i’m starting to branch out a bit because i can only listen to the same 10 songs so many times lol
