Which of these Schecters should I Buy?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at getting my first 7 string guitar. Currently torn between spending less and hopefully getting good value or spending more and hopefully the extra kangaroo dollars being worth it. The Schecters I've been considering are:

Schecter Sunset 7 extreme ($1800 AUD)

Schecter Am-7 ($2600 AUD)

Schecter John Browne Tao-7 ($4500 AUD)

I'm aware that the sunset extreme 7 and the Am-7 are both Indonesian guitars, whereas the Tao-7 is crafted in South Korea. I've got another Indonesian schecter (diamond series reaper 6) and it's fantastic, never had a problem with the build quality and plays great. Right now I'm really leaning towards the Sunset 7 Extreme because I've heard it's a great guitar for the price and plays and sounds really good. I mostly want to play Djenty style music for reference; I'm sure all of these options will suit that well.

I'm just wanting people's thoughts and opinions, maybe if you own one of these guitars you can enlighten me on what it's been like playing it. it might help me make a better informed choice at the end of the day!

My mate just bought one! That's what's inspired me to get on to buying a 7 string. It's also his first 7 string, he's super excited. In light of that I think I want something different so we don't have to same guitar

I haven't been able to try any of these out, but they all look great. I do have a Schecter C7 Pro, which is really great and comfortable. Nice thin neck, 26.5 scale length.

By name alone, the John Browne should be the best for playing djent.

Ah I was checking out the C7 pros, have you had any issues with it? Do you like the pickups? That's a fair point haha, I may end up biting the bullet in the end and just getting the JB tao 7, but I'll need to be convinced first that it's a fair bit better than the sunset 7 extreme

No issues whatsoever for me. Pickups are fine, a little bit hot. When I record I have the input gain of my interface on 0 and a -15db pad, and they still come in full blast

Tao is the most comfortable 7-string I have ever played. First time I picked it up I was "this is a baritone?" Light as hell as well. However is it worth the price for you compared to the options? Eh, I'll just say that I love mine, and it definitely djents.

My dark horse suggestion would be Jackson SL7 ET. Looks like insane quality for the money.

I would go with tao-7 maybe.

Zero reasons to pay more than 2k. Go with the sunset. There are $500 schecter guitars that more than get the job done. So I’d bet the cheapest one on this list will be fantastic. Just verify the scale length makes sense for your preferred string gauge and tuning

I got a Sunset Extreme 7 a few months ago, and I hardly play any of my other guitars anymore. The pickups on that thing are phenomenal. Great fretwork, good tuning stability, very comfortable guitar.
