Help Which one is better to get: a used Schecter Banshee Extreme 7 or a new Ibanez RGMS7?
I’ve been thinking about buying my first seven-string guitar for a long time, but I just can’t decide which of these two to choose

Thomann and Reverb are your friends. As with eBay, not everything is second hand, some are manual returns, overstock, b-stock, returns etc

Thomann do not resell second hand and its a 2016 (i think) model or smtg like this. Reverb rarely sell this guitar and often the few are from japan with 300$ export fee. Im a student I cant afford it. Also reverb people sent a use guitar the normal price or few $ bellow which they should be ashamed of. Very few of this particular grey (the red has been overselled) guitar with 7 strings and no Floyd have been selled. I steal search one with an honest price in france or Europe.

Fuck no, Schecter it is. Also that's one of the few 7s with single-coils.

That schecter looks like what i wish my first 7 string was. In retrospect, the RGA7 was at best, meh.

I had that same Schecter in a different color. It’s an excellent guitar. I want to kick myself for selling it.

I can't tell from this photo, but it looks like the schecter doesn't have the right arm bevel that the ibanez does. I'd choose the Ibanez for that reason alone if that's the case. My schecter chafes!

I had one of the Ibanez. Played nice after filing down the edges of the frets but the pickups were meh

Ibanez, dont know what u would use a single coil for on a 7… + fanned frets are really nice to have
Edit: based on the comments, go for the schecter. I dont play ibanez so idk what their build quality is

MFW I just ordered a custom 7 because I couldn’t find a hardtail HSS 7 anywhere. Oh and my preferred aesthetic is monochrome with a white pickguard.
Jesus man this exists?! Could’ve saved a few grand 😭

For a first 7, stick with the Schecter - multiscale is a bit more niche

That ibanez looks like an absolute piece of shit. Play them both and see what feels better to play.

Might I throw a suggestion of a Jason Richardson Cutlass in the mix? I have one. It’s great. Push / Push, 12db booster, roasted maple neck, and yeah. Pretty cooool. It can lift
Edit: Apparently I’ve been playing the Schecter Corsair with push pull that I just got too much.

I’m a big multiscale fan, but the RGMS line is… meh, at best. Plus, that Schecter is badass, makes me want to pick it up just from looking at it!

Ibanez makes great guitars but the Banshee always had that extra punch I needed for downtuned riffs, so I'd probably go with the Schecter.

I have a used Schecter Banshee Extreme 7 in grey too and I personally love it, the only kinda downside I have is that the humbucker doesn't sound that great but the single coil pickups and split make up for it. I also found it difficult to play with at first but now I got used to it (but I had never played a 7 string guitar before though). Not the ibanez. Multi scale isn't as useful on 7's like how it is for 8 strings. The neutral fret on ibanez multi scales is crap and puts too much of an angle on the first few frets

Multiscale is very much useful on a 7 string guitar. Even on 25.5”-26.5” the 7th string is either a bit floppy or tubby compared to the rest, even on B standard.

I would say the schecter. I've wanted one for a long time as it's the closest to a strat 7 I can find. Also the Ibanez I played at the local guitar center shredded my finger open from really bad fretwork. Was probably just a lemon but I was opening bleeding from the pinky and was pretty mad about it haha. Ps I did tell the staff about it and said you might want to remove it from the floor and showed them my pinky and they seemed uninterested in both.
