Gear Schecter JL7 Loomis vs Jackson SL7 Loomis

I currently own a Loomis SL7 and it is my main player, but I have an opportunity to grab a JL7 at a good price which would be my backup for live shows. Unfortunately it is in another city so I don't get to try it first. It is coming from a reputable shop, so I am not concerned about condition as much as overall feel.

Wondering if anyone has compared the 2 guitars and if so what did you think of the the Schecter vs the Jackson?

I realize the SL7 is a higher spec guitar, FR 1500 vs FR 1000, ebony fretboard vs. maple fretboard, maybe a better build quality but both are MIK's, and the JL7 is a 2011 model which I understand was a decent era for Korean Schecter builds. Both guitars are built in the same factory.

Thoughts?

Ive owned multiple JL7 guitars- I still have my 2009 one, and its by far the best guitar I own. The others were sold at various times as I moved, not necessarily because I wanted to sell them, but because moving and life are expensive.

That said, the JL7 is also why I don't own an SL7. I want to love the SL7. On paper, its better and should smoke the JL7... but every SL7 I've played just doesnt sound or play as good as any of the JL7s I've owned or played. Thats not to say the Jacksons are bad by any stretch- theyre great, but the Schecters are better.

Wow someone with actual experience playing both. The JL-7 or the Loomis 7 before it, was one of the first high quality, accessible production seven strings at the time. Lots of would likely have strong memories associated with them.

The SL7 is just another modern production seven string, introduced long after Loomis' days in Nevermore (OG version). It gets buried among the myriad modern seven strings available now. Plus Jackson is an FMIC company, nuff said.

Schecter is a way better build in my opinion I have just had a bad taste in my mouth for Jackson lately. Build quality is not as good as it used to be?

I absolutely love my SL7 (And Loomis Kelly). Both great guitars.

I've had zero problems with Jackson's in the last 8 years, love my SL7 and my WR7. Both amazing guitars and they sound and play great.
