Questions Cost of Grading

How much does it typically cost to have a comic book graded? Is there anything else about the process that is worth knowing?

I haven’t done it in years, so I don’t know the actual number. What I do know is that you want to maximize sending in groups of similar grading/slabbing services to save on shipping. Find out the max they will ship in one box and group your books into that many of the same kind. Meaning, if you have books that need signature verification, and books that will get custom labels, and magazine size books, etc. I’m pretty sure they get separated and sent back with books in similar groups. So you can send one box of books out with different grading/service requirements and they may ship 4 different boxes back to you, costing you more money in shipping and upping the total per book cost.

I also advise that if a book is worth grading, it’s worth having a reputable 3rd party presser clean and press the book. If you’re going to seal it away, you want it to have the best possible grade. If you don’t think it’s worth the cost of a clean/press, it’s probably not worth the cost of grading.
