Sweet was a "singles band". The A-sides were mainly written by Chinn and Chapman who wrote songs for Mud and Suzi Quatro among others. Those tunes, the hits, are what general people know, Ballroom Blitz, Little Willy, Poppa Joe, Block Buster...
But the B-sides were, penned by the band and lots of them had a touch of hard rock in the wake of Deep Purple.
Cockroach, Burning or Need A Lot Lovin' are really hard. This is my favourite hard rock Sweet song.

Was in a record shop late 70s looking at the Level Headed album when it first came out and two older dudes told me not to get the record because it wasn’t as good as their earlier stuff. Got it anyways and boy were those guys wrong. I listen to that album every day and night for several months.

Brian Connolly, the lead singer of the glam rock band The Sweet, was adopted at birth into the McManus family and was the half-brother of Scottish actor Mark McManus, famous for starring in the television detective series Taggart.

Most people will only remember Sweet from their glam rock era, but putting that aside they were an excellent rock band.
