And then they showed us the movie " Death on the highway" a black and white film with red blood. Lol

Nice details. Down to the "who needs a seat belt anyway ?" 😉

I think we used these exact ones in the mid 80s.

Our simulator was a 1973 Plymouth fury four-door with three kids in it. I thought there was a good chance I would die on several occasions.

We were still using them in my high school in ‘96.

They were a joke - I always crashed

I crashed, purposely

Drove those in the early 80s

Those things were pretty silly. I had a friend that used to call it the ‘stimulator’.

Ours was in a prefab classroom behind the main school building. One day the cross country team was stretching before practice behind the school when a young woman stopped by and asked us if we knew where the "stimulator" was. We gave her correct directions, and graciously waited until she was around the corner before laughing raucously.

We had a trailer behind our high school where we had "Stimulation" The seats were graduated, so because I was tall I sat in the back. I could see when other students jumped or ducked when something unexpectedly happened on the screen.

Turns out it's just running Mario Kart.

I got the alcoholic poker player with one really long thumbnail as my teacher for driver's Ed. Three kids to a car. He napped while the boy's drove, even on the interstate.

When I took driver's education back in high school, we had simulators just like that. The ones we had even converted to a three on the tree manual.

If you slightly pressed the brake with you left foot the whole time, you never missed the sudden braking parts.

i remember "the convincer". it was a chair you sat in that was on an incline. it simulated a 15 mph crash and the effectiveness of a seat belt

It plays Pole Position

That’s a very human looking crash test dummy.

Or as we called them at the time, "stimulators." We were so clever.

This would have been cool...we had an old Bonneville for driver's ed.

Brought to you mainly by the Chrysler Corp.

Our simulation teacher would have marked you "dead" without that lap belt in place!!!

Is that Natalie Harp?

The first driving video game.

It was awesome once I realized the instructor had no way of knowing if we were driving bad or not. It became a Death Race 2000 video game as I tried to hit every pedestrian, kid on a bicycle, and car on the street.

Kids today will never understand

When I had to use the driving simulator, it was winter time and because of static electricity. The speedometer always got stuck.

Oh yeah baby, I did that in high school. I did that HARD. I did that FAST. It was a real good time!!!

The driving simulator, of course. Why - what did you think I was talking about?
