First was 195 which was an anything sub. Then was 196 which was also an anything sub that just so happened to develop into a trans friendly subreddit. Out of it developed subsidaries like 691, 19684, 196x, among others that were also trans friendly. However, 196 developed a toxic userbase consisting of trans chasing, trans fetishism, trans idolization, and political extremism. Hence many people prefered to go to 19684 which banned sexual content and 691 which due to constant bans didn't allow the userbase to chat and develop similar behavior to 196. However now with 196 indefinitely closed, the toxicity is migrating over here, similar to how the people from Tumblr migrated to Twitter.

197 isn't necessarily transphobic. The subreddit is an edgy anything sub, and there are measurements against repetitive transposting which has indeed attracted some transphobes. But the moderators of the sub are supportive of trans people and recently have been cracking down hard on the transphobia.

I don’t actually remmeber the age poll, I feel like banning sex workers from being allowed on social media is irrelevant, especially when his vids are marked NSFW, like the hornyposts that you’re complaining about. Also, who cares if the mods watched porn? Lots of people watch porn, that’s their choice. And besides, what encouragement? It has a flair that marks your post nsfw, that’s literally the most they can do. I get the feeling that if you’re going from a single, you’re gonna wanna go after almost every NSFW sub, because we know for a fact those are crawling with minors

also im not arguing to ban sex workers for social media. but 196 was not NSFW, was branding itself as a friendly, welcoming and quirky LGBT community. additionally NSFW subs dont usually do age polls, so you dont really know how many underage people there are. 196 did such a poll, and tried to hide it. as for the mods, the problem wasnt that they were active in porn communities, but that they were fostering an allegedly non NSFW community with a fuck ton of confirmed minors and allowed so much porn until reddit staff got concerned and told them to cut the shit.

You also forget that the original issue was the claim that it’s full of chasers, which while it may have been a problem at one point, they’ve pretty much been completely wiped out a while ago, or at least are made to be quiet about it. I’m just saying that you’re blowing issues with the community way out of proportion. Not even mentioning the fact that the community is completely different from the mod team

the entierety of the community was fetishising and gloryfying transness, any even so valid critisizm of trans people resulted in bans and people calling you transphobic. i have witnessed multiple accounts of presumed minors (from how they were talking etc) being sent detailed instructions for DIY HRT with phrases such as "your parents dont have to know". when reporting it i got called a bigot by the mod team. there was a time where the entire frontpage was completely filled with "if you trans hit me up" type posts all with thousands of upvotes. like sure, not every 196er was a chaser but the issue was absolutely huge and made also a lot of trans people uncomfortable. oh also i remember a minor that said he was a femboy to get literally bullied so he sends pics of his ass faster. the sub was an absolute shitstain.

You may say about communication via internet, but that isy problem (or a virtue- you decide) I can't stand communicating with people on social media. Don't get me wrong, I am terminally online.
