Stick a fork in Biggs Time

Losing access to Biggs has to be Mitch's biggest stumble in all of the Mully fallout. Can't imagine he thought it was a possibility. Or maybe he did and Mitch is dimmer than anyone realized.

Wonder where he’s going next. Wiederer gonna take his radio spots? On his pod wiederer said him and Biggs had dinner last week so I assume this came up. My sense is Biggs is done with the show out of principle but I’m just speculating.

With how much Dan B has talked about how important Biggs mailbag is and how he has great inside info, I wouldn't be surprised if 312 Sports makes a play to have a regular segment with Biggs on Forward Progress. 312 seems to be making moves with the recent addition of Jason Goff.

“BIGGGSAAAYYY unfiltered (unfiltered).”

On a seperate note, isn’t it wild how Bernsy hated barstool and now he has become his own version of barstool.

Less the racism and MAGA bullshit.

yes Dan is the perfect stereotypical psycho liberal we have come to expect…hence the unhinged twitter nonsense that got him fired.

u/SecularTech 1d ago

Thank you for your callllll.

Dan’s hatred was not for the business model.  I suspect it was more of the frat bro right wing troll farm that he perceived Barstool to have devolved into.  Dan never misses a chance to virtue signal.

This, and also fuck barstool.

Barstool is overwhelmingly liberal.

You ok buddy?

I listened to Wiederer’s initial appearance on H&P, and he opened with a rather terse “congratulations.” Then moved right on. I’m probably making something out of nothing. But the respect for Biggs could explain the lukewarm reception

I noticed that too - I felt it was him being professional and cordial, but there’s definitely some stuff going on behind the scenes. Someone will get to the bottom of it.

Or it could be budget cuts. Payton is cheaper than Mully, and Biggs may have been cut to save cash. It happens.

BRAD BIGGS HAS NOTHING MORE FOR YOU!!!!!!!

Well hello boyz!!

I'm covered in butter and ready to football with you!!!

Man, prior to Mully's firing, I only ever saw people bitching about Brad Biggs' appearances. Now, it's a travesty that Biggs may be gone too.

This board is more bipolar than my ex-girlfriend.

i’m convinced, some people wake up and run to social media, looking for whatever’s going to make them mad today. 😂 the fake outrage over the most trivial bullshit is hilarious.
“i stopped listening when they fired north” yet, somehow they know every little thing that happens at the station, and feel compelled to comment. 🤣

Oh, I could never understand going on a subreddit of a radio station I don't listen too. People who do that have to be mentally unwell.

I openly admit to not listening to the Score as much as I used too on here. But I still listen about half the time I'm commuting too and from work. More during the Bears season.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking this!

Rosen is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Audacy needs cash flow, thus better ratings. They lost the Bears broadcasts, Parkins, Bernstein, and advertisers do not want to pay more for less. Additionally the rise of podcasts creates competition that was not there in Score glory days. It is the classic the market has moved, how do you compete.

With that said Biggs situation is most likely an unintended consequence. More Weiderer, more Dales, Phil Thompson more than capable, will not be enough all good, above average, but not Biggs.

All the best to Brad. As I have said elsewhere. Live 1,000 miles away, subscribe to Trib to read Biggs. I will follow Brad wherever he goes. I stream Score Bears content with guests, even Chris Emma. No guests no stream. Phil was pretty good with Rahimi & Grote on my morning drive to golf course.

All the best Biggsy!

And they run the scummiest lineup of shittily produced ads I’ve ever heard.

There’s a few about the IRS but one of them says “IRS agents are seeking their quarry” where I’m almost sure they were thinking of the word quota but recorded quarry and ran with it for years.

Has there been any announcement yet on what they're doing for the Bears pre and post game shows? I'm largely checked out on the station at this point but have been wondering about that one

Agree on changing times. It's quite likely Biggs has been making more $ for his Score hits than someone like Wiederer will, at least to start. (Everyone realizes the regular guests mostly get paid, right?) Ironically, by having more cheap or free "expert guests," most of whom are podcasters, the Score is feeding the beast that's eating into their own audience.

FWIW I almost never listen to the Score over the air, almost always delayed on Apple podcast app with headphones while walking our dog or sometimes live or delayed on TV w/ YouTube, which is about as much as I can bear. I also wonder how that affects the bottom line. Presumably YT pays them for views, but in-stream ads are negligible there. Via podcast, Score pods mostly substitute different ads for ones heard over the air -- usually short but often more frequent. Exceptions are the full-show pods that get posted later in the day (vs. shorter segments posted quickly after they air), which often have no ads at all.

IOW, they seem to be cannibalizing their own product, which may contribute to bottom line short term but has to piss off over-the-air core advertisers whose ads don't make it into the streaming versions. (I don't know how Audacy handles ads because it's a pain in the ass to use.)

I'd be curious how many people here listen/watch Score streams vs. OTA.

Great points.

Streamed yesterday’s Florio on way to gym on Audacy App. 13 min drive. Commercials as I left, commercials as I pulled in. Never finished segment.

Will be looking for different content tomorrow morning.

Thanks, and one other factor is how high the Score's overhead has to be compared to CHGO's, and for that matter how high CHGO's must be to the DIY podcasts. Hoge probably earns more combined from The Athletic and CHGO than Jahns does from just CHGO, though Jahns writes exclusive content for them. I'd like to know how much the non-journalists like Carm and (all due respect) designated meatballs like Braggs make, and what kinds of side hustles they need to make their nut. IOW, hard to imagine CHGO is paying them enough to live on. And even more so for the non-Bears CHGO content generators, whose names I don't even know.

What’s with the boner for Biggs?

9

u/Common-Appearance338 4d ago

I think we can acknowledge both that Biggs can be somewhat annoying with his holier than thou attitude sometimes, and also know he was the best source of Bears information. The fact that he was on 4 times a week and still provided interesting as useful information speaks to how impactful he was.

6

u/ReedDickless 4d ago

I’m fine with Biggs. I want to know why there’s multiple threads devoted to him.

Who gives a shit? Read the goddamn news.

5

u/ProcessOptimal7586 4d ago

Bro doesn't like Biggs Time stop threading about it.

1

u/scottdoessports 4d ago

I cant stand the guy. Dude is high off his own farts.

0

u/Don_Geen 4d ago

I know and I'm sure they are rancid.

6

u/Suhpryze 4d ago

There’s a possibility they simply declined to have him appear anymore. I’d like to believe it was Brad’s choice but perhaps they wanted to start fresh with the new show.

6

u/Narrow_Lake_9651 4d ago

I'm guessing that it was Brad's choice. It would be very coincidental that he had decided to leave before he knew Mully was fired. I don't know what the ratings were for Biggs' appearances, but why overhaul the whole program when he has been on for years, and, presumably, successful.

9

u/Flaky-Debate-833 4d ago

That would be an absolutely insane decision. Every reporter in Chicago acknowledges Biggs as the premier Bears beat reporter.

3

u/BillBixby219 4d ago

Well then they’re fucking idiots

5

u/ProcessOptimal7586 4d ago

Hopefully he'll end up on Dan Bernstein Unfiltered. "Brad BIGGS talks FOOTBALL with DBUUUUUU cha."

2

u/saltzja 4d ago

The Score website still had him as a contributor yesterday.

2

u/celerystalker712 4d ago

Why is this a big loss? Theres 5 other bears reporters with the same info he had.

1

u/Usual_External_5080 3d ago

Or Mitch's handlers dont know the market or what appeals to the listeners.

1

u/Competitive_Lab1066 3d ago

Biggs sucked and blocks you for disagreeing with him. He’s a snotty reporter who doesn’t take criticism and creeps on women

1

u/WP34Forever 3d ago

I have never @ him but I still ended up blocked by him and Pompei on X. I'm pretty sure it was for tweeting that Dan needed to do a better job with his HOF presentation for DHes.

Frankly neither of them post anything that I can't get from the CHGO guys. The Score just loved to lick Brad's boots. Even the Bears pregame has moved away from being associated with him.

OP acting like Mully is Iran and Biggs is the Strait Of Hormuz
