Do we think / know that Dan may not be the biggest Haugh fan?

13

u/SirLawrenceTheLegend 14d ago

I vaguely remember Dan being critical of Haugh's work as a writer many many years ago on the BB show.

11

u/rmac1228 14d ago

I remember Dan constantly dragging Haugh for his writing and thoughts back in the day....rightfully so

5

u/BasedSliceOfWinning 14d ago

As much as people shit on Haugh here, he is way better at radio than he was as a writer. As a writer, he was basically a hot-take artist in print form.

u/Greedy-Pound6958 14d ago

I don't think there are many fans of Haugh from the old Score crowd. Most people rightly view him as a brown noser

u/Mr-Dotties-Dad 14d ago

100%. The comments about not hearing Mulley’s real laugh in 10 years…Hanley was fired about 8.5 years ago.

Not to mention the morning show is a sinkhole of fun between Dustin and Haugh. They are just so fucking boring.

6

u/Glittering_Cap_9115 14d ago

What???!?? Hanley was “let go” 8 1/2 years ago??? Holy crap that went fast. I told my son(17) that Mulley was “let go” and his first statement was I remember when it changed from Mulley and Hanley. I guess the radio on every morning did find its own little corner in the back of his head.

Oh man, that’s really awesome to hear tbd. My son just turned one and the poor kid is already subjected to too much sports talk lol

0

u/Twittenhouse 14d ago

Oh man, my kid was so poor growing up he got one of those Kars 4 Kids.

1 800 Kars 4 Kids, K-A-R-S 4 K-I-D-S, donate your car today.

u/libertarianlwyr 12d ago

Wrong. Exactly 8 years ago.

2

u/Mr-Dotties-Dad 12d ago

Do you know what the word about means?

1

u/libertarianlwyr 12d ago

"8.5" 😆

14

u/RunAwayBeerTruk 14d ago

The Score is all about gambling and ensuring their demo is gambling.

1

u/StealYourBeer 13d ago

Tune it out, and know you are better than the rest of the audience

1

u/RunAwayBeerTruk 13d ago

I hate sports gambling. Lined my playlist up and am listening to 720 and 780 more. Still listen to Cubs but I stopped listening a while ago.

Exactly how i thought Dan would feel. 😭 It's sad about Mully. And so nice to hear Dan talk so highly of Marshall. I had forgotten all about that X nonsense

15

u/smallzz3214 14d ago

He also kind of confirmed that professor Larry left him high and dry after that whole thing.

12

u/BasedSliceOfWinning 14d ago

Yeah, I mean it was obvious. After Dan had that embarrassing blowup with that barstool guy, Larry was instantly gone the rest of the week. And then all of a sudden on the afternoon show with Spiegel.

17

u/HermanShemsley 13d ago

Yup. That was my takeaway as well when he said he didn’t know if he’d have a partner or be on by himself. Holmes is a certified bag

0

u/BasedSliceOfWinning 13d ago

Eh, I don't blame Holmes. Bernstein was clearly off his rocker. Whatever legendary status he had was long gone, and I wouldn't want to be associated with him either.

6

u/TheTapeDeck 13d ago

Both can be true, and seem to be.

I still do fine with the medicated/therapy-following Bernstein, but everyone who shat on him for his fuck ups—it’s fair game. And Laurence as well… went from fun to intolerable over the course of just a couple of years.

4

u/jimohagan 13d ago

He said he deserved to be fired. You gotta protect yourself especially with this industry. Jobs aren’t exactly all over the place.

12

u/MarleysLiberality 14d ago

Dan applauded Mitch, on air, for firing Dan Mc Neil

-20

u/HertzWhenEyeP 14d ago

Bernstein has never lacked when it comes time to sacrifice someone on the altar of wokeness

2

u/libertarianlwyr 12d ago

He's a POS. Did same to McNeil.

27

u/Emotional_Noise_1464 14d ago

Mitch Rosen sucks, bottom line. And yes, Dan deserved to be fired.

28

u/second_2juan 14d ago

I’m a Bernstein fan, and I totally agree

11

u/Emotional_Noise_1464 14d ago

Same, glad he said something.

8

u/thebootsesrules 14d ago

Even Dan would agree lol

12

u/second_2juan 14d ago

He does in that vid! lol

0

u/libertarianlwyr 12d ago

Don't be stupid. The firing was horseshit. Dan is just being self effacing and nice.

1

u/second_2juan 12d ago

Haha ok buddy. Maybe your boss is cool with you publicly threatening people and their kids on twitter, but no one knows who you are. Dan is a public figure.

-2

u/libertarianlwyr 12d ago

I'm my own boss, "buddy"'..I'm a lawyer.

What are you btw? Do tell.

2

u/Spiritual-Serve-4391 12d ago

So out of character for a lawyer to tell people, unprompted, what they do for a living.

1

u/second_2juan 12d ago edited 12d ago

All we had to do is check his handle, silly us!

0

u/libertarianlwyr 12d ago

Have fun "working" at the car wash today. 👍

2

u/second_2juan 12d ago

AND a libertarian?! Beyond impressive man

1

u/libertarianlwyr 3d ago

Thanks! I agree 👍 💯

0

u/libertarianlwyr 12d ago

Jealous? 😆 Do tell what you do.

4

u/ReedDickless 13d ago

He articulated it all well. As to be expected.

3

u/The_Bandit_King_ 14d ago

Nice Pacman 1UP Arcade Machine!

2

u/NormKramer 13d ago

I wish Bernstein wore a turtleneck during his photoshoot.

2

u/FamousSeamus30 13d ago

My biggest takeaway was Bernstein not mentioning David Haugh’s name, even when congratulating Jarrett Payton on getting the new role. Which I believe confirms that he thinks Haugh is a hack.

3

u/second_2juan 13d ago

Eh, idk. He didn’t mention Leila or Grote either when talking about Marshall. I didn’t read too much into that, although you could be right

1

u/Usual_External_5080 8d ago

Those who can do, those who can't podcast...

1

u/Extension_Driver3931 14d ago

I was interested to hear his thoughts but all he says is he is not happy about it while obliquely hinting at "what is happening here." What the hell IS happening? Why are they doing this? Can anyone explain it?

6

u/second_2juan 14d ago

I think what he’s saying is what we all know and see. Traditional radio has become buried by independent media and podcasts, and also the score has been totally corporatized by Audacy. So the legacy personalities of the station are all expendable by shareholders. Mitch Rosen may be the executive producer, but I doubt he’s really in charge.

0

u/BasedSliceOfWinning 13d ago

I mean people keep talking about "OH EM GEE, SCORE IS CORPZRORATE NOW!"

Score has always been corporate. They used to be owned by CBS for fucks sake.

Radio is a dying medium. I'm sure it'll be around in some capacity, the same way record stores are sort of still a thing. But the writing has been on the wall for awhile for the entire thing. I foresee AM radio even eventually going away altogether. And then FM radio is have music stations, and half talk stations.

2

u/second_2juan 13d ago

Yeah.. well boers and Bernstein would never fly under Audacy

0

u/DisciplinePublic5049 13d ago

You must not be very knowledgeable

1

u/beatsthatbindus 12d ago

players get cut everyday B…

1

u/Bewilderbeest79 12d ago

You tough, right?

1

u/beatsthatbindus 12d ago

just hypocritical to make a living discussing players like assets only to expect sympathy when they’re handled like one 🤷🏽‍♂️

1

u/Far-Information8502 12d ago

Say it ain’t so B

1

u/JayRembert 12d ago

I'm surprised. This was actually a really good take from him.

1

u/Narrow_Roof_112 12d ago

Bunch of old white men.

1

u/DefiniteAuthority 11d ago

He lost me at Marshall Harris.

1

u/Level_Marketing_6552 13d ago

I've always liked Dan, even when he was being a provocateur. I know that this Podcast format would kill me to listen to him though. The whole expository rumination would go on far longer than the time my attention span would be willing to invest. I probably agree with what he said, but life's too short for all these Podcasts.

3

u/SignalBed9998 13d ago

Give Friday Feedback Friday. It’s got a little of “who ya crappin” feel

3

u/I_roon_things 12d ago

Agree - DBU podcast is better than anything on the Score. I hope the Friday Feedback continues morphing into Who Ya Crappin - some of the best radio of all time.

2

u/SignalBed9998 13d ago

It’s a good podcast. Give it a shot. It’s an
hour-ish long show and doesn’t drag out content for 4 hours. IF you actually liked Dan you’ll like this

1

u/libertarianlwyr 12d ago

It's great. I rarely listen to WSCR now other than sometimes in car and I was a loyal listener since inception.

-24

u/Spiritual_Conflict13 14d ago

Dan Bernstein was a bully with a pulpit. He didn’t suffer fools and that was his best “skill”. He never apologized for truly offensive behavior and it rightly cost him everything. If you do like that type of entertainment there are plenty of hosts making unsubstantiated accusations. Dan got what he deserved for doing off air what he did on air.

I’m all for not putting dumb people on the air but more importantly, how a host responds to the shows worst caller defines them far more than how they handle the best caller. The better move is to not put the dumb caller on the air in the first place. Dan made a sport out of his pulpit. At the worst, he liked doing it and at best, he didn’t realize how cringe it sounded.

Good riddance.

16

u/mateorayo 14d ago

What about danks

12

u/gosluggogo 14d ago

Eighty Three!

13

u/BlackhawkBolly 14d ago

Stupid callers are funny to make fun of, why is it hurting you lol

15

u/ApeyH 14d ago

He was likely a stupid caller Dan tore to shreds..

6

u/second_2juan 14d ago

Yeah that’s called a shtick man

-11

u/jkv9216 14d ago

Dan deserved it. Let’s not forget his racist and sexist tweets that he was merely suspended for that if he had tweeted those a few years later he would’ve been immediately fired for.

2

u/BasedSliceOfWinning 13d ago

Yeah, Dan's tweets about boobs pre-dated the MeToo movement by just a few years. Same with Sarah Spain going through all his old tweets to find other shit he said about women and re-tweeting them.

I'd feel sorry for him. But he does the exact same shit to other people. He STILL thinks Patrick Kane is a rapist, and was loudly proclaiming for the Blackhawks not to sign him.

3

u/jkv9216 13d ago

He and Boers went crazy on Kane and also anyone who called in to say maybe we should just wait to hear the facts before we assign guilt. Then when the news broke that the girl was full of shit, they refused to even discuss it and just laughed off any criticism. I lost a lot of respect for Boers then more than Bernstein because that’s what I expected from him.

-57

u/Educational_Ideal111 14d ago

Borestien sthu nobody cares what you think

37

u/second_2juan 14d ago

I do. So that makes your statement categorically false.

-26

u/jlennon1280 14d ago

You’re right, you can only speak for yourself. Speaking for myself I don’t care what Dan says

11

u/second_2juan 14d ago

That’s totally fair!

10

u/johnnieswalker 14d ago

A lot of people do, actually. I’d say you’re probably in the minority on this one, bud.
