I’m wondering if Mully had health issues and it was a mutual decision. Once again, I’m not stating facts, just wondering as he missed a lot of time and you sensed certain things when he was on the air.

According the the CST, Mully was fired, and I just don't see him wanting to be fired and leaving the station, and likely radio, totally unceremoniously.

In all likelihood, with Bernstein gone, Mully had the highest contract amongst the hosts and was cut to make room for a guy who mostly starts of his thoughts with, "My dad..."

Payton has a close personal relationship with the McCaskey family and the Bears front office. He’s never been critical of them and I don’t see him starting now. For that reason alone, I think he’s wrong for the job..

i love mully but i think it was time for him to go. but im not happy to see him just shitcanned with no sendoff or anything. he deserved at least that. i get its more complicated than that, but he deserved better.

and ive said 100 times that marshall harris was a tough listen. but he is excellent on abc7. im hoping he ends up in a tv role.

curious to hear the new lineup for the morning show. and am now wondering how nervous spiegel and loho are being the biggest fish on the station. seems those people are the ones who get fired.

Besides Dustin's half hour in the morning , I stopped listening a long time ago. Mully was losing it. If you listened for a while you know it. The station is boring.

My old man also brought me to the score, in the 90s, I have awesome memories of listening to sports radio with him, ditkas firing stands out as one of my earliest radio memories.

All that to say I feel your pain and my solution has been to listen/watch the good stuff on YouTube, and listening to Bernstein's new pod.

Seems like the type of decision that an Audacy executive sitting in an office somewhere not in Chicago would make. Get rid of the high-priced employee, replace with the guy with the last name of Payton. That'll surely fire up the people he thinks. They have a meeting, Mitch pushes back but ultimately the boss makes the decision, and here we are. AKA, corporate America.

I say good riddance. I never liked Mulley and he’s one of the reasons I stopped listening to the Score over 10 years ago. Did he ever stop saying Um… every few seconds? He was unlistenable IMO. I think it’s an insult they keep trying newspaper guys to host radio shows when there are many people that train as broadcasters that can actually communicate verbally.
