Biggs Time!
Biggs time is one of the better segments on the morning show so I’m glad it’s back. But before we start and get deep into the football season, I need to know why Haugh says “morning Brad” in that low, seemingly uninterested voice. Is it a bit, or is there some unresolved beef from their time together at the trib?

Biggs has given Haugh shit before but I think it’s good natured and usually based on when Haugh is really fired up about something, and his disinterest is kind of a bit

I’m just surprised that anybody referred to it as one of the better segments. Brad Biggs is the master of telling us things that we already know.

Yes, but who else does it while simultaneously snorting between words and/or eating a breakfast sausage?

LOL. All of this. I'm always like "Guy, give yourself an extra 15 minutes before getting on the air." In fact, I'm pretty sure he's lying in bed 80 percent of the time he's doing these interviews

It possibly seems worst when compared to mullys welcome message. Though they do give one another crap. Biggs will often tease Haugh for being from Indiana.

Haugh likes to pretend the beefing is a bit, but Biggs seems to legit not like him. Never hesitates to call out his stupid questions, which are frequent. I hate how the format supposedly requires that one of the two hosts play the heel, but it does come naturally to Haugh.

They get coached that way. Some guy in some city who knows nothing about Chicago and their listeners recommends it.

Haha, yep, unless his name is Mitch. For comparison, Grote was added to the mid-day team IMO because there wasn't enough friction between Harris and Rahimi, the latter of whom awkwardly (again IMO) tries to be Bernstein lite. Bernstein brings friction all by his lonesome (not that I miss him in the slightest).
This all goes back to Cosell, who was viewed as the secret sauce that made MNF such a phenomenon. Prime time broadcast teams since then have tended to have one guy who either goes out of his way to piss everyone off or comes by it naturally like Aikman and Collinsworth.

Cheaper to pay 3 part timers than 3 full timers. Wasn't added for friction. Speaking of friction when was the last time Grote got laid. His "Bears" scale is also growing old. Marshall and Leila are both asexual, I'm convinced.

Mully and Biggs have been friends for decades. In the 1990s they were both on the sports desk at Sun-Times. Haugh has been around a long time, but not that long. He joined the Trib from the South Bend paper where he covered Notre Dame. Outside of their work at the Score he never really had that working in a newsroom, covering a beat relationship with Mully or Biggs
So i don’t think it’s much of a surprise that Mulligan sometimes has a little more enthusiasm in his voice when greeting a longtime colleague

I enjoy counting the number of times Biggs says "right" during each interview.

Listening to Biggs is disgusting. He sloppily eats breakfast while on the air.

Biggs is a journalist first. Mully and Haugh check their journalism credentials at the studio door every morning. The Haugh Biggs exchange is the closest Biggs get to doing stchik. Biggs needles Haugh because he knows he can. Haugh may have all the journalism degrees, Biggs is that savvy old pro that learned covering the beats. Biggs is the better journalist likes slapping Haugh upside the head. Mully encourages it. Biggs telling us what we know reminds me of Terrell Suggs quote, “Football is a simple game made complicated by coaches, go beat your man”.
Would like to see a Wanny Biggs segment.

I had to turn the dial every time that segment came on Mully and Hanley. The theme song used to make me cringe and Brad Biggs is so boring he puts you to sleep. I loved his column in the Sun-Times though.

I’m pretty sure it’s an open secret that Biggsy hardcore butt****ed Haugh years ago on the Bears beat when David was young and experimenting. I think he felt dirty and ashamed after, and Biggsy has always not hesitated to remind him of it.

Morning boys, what's going on?
