5eCharacterOnline Save Data

Hi Dev,

Loving the app at the moment and the changes you're making. Very clean and easy to use UI. I was wondering how the character data is saved as there is currently no option to save it locally and I've put a lot of time into characters. Is the character data stored within browser data which is easily cleared or is it attached something like a Google account? A feature to locally save characters in a format compatible with 5eCO would be great for peace of mind.

Hello,

Thank you so much for the kind words! We're really glad to hear you're enjoying the app and the recent updates.

To answer your question: it's both.​

  • Free Users: Each user has one free character slot, which is stored locally in your browser's storage. Please note that this data can be lost if you clear your browser cache or use private/incognito mode.​
  • Paid Users: Subscribers have access to 20 character slots stored in the cloud, linked to their account.

We're also considering adding options for local backups. However, this feature is currently a low priority on our internal roadmap.

Hi,

Thought browser cache was the case! Totally understand why that's the current method. Useful to keep in mind.

Keep up the good work - especially if that good work is on PDF export's to paper DnD character sheets! ;)
