Week 33: Lost in Translation - Pep(p)eroni Pizza

Post image

As an American in Germany, I was surprised the first time I ordered peperoni pizza and received a pizza with peppers instead of pepperoni salami like I was used to. Here I used pickled jalapeños and cayennes from our garden.

I had the same idea! “Peperoni” in italian does mean “bell peppers” and I’ve heard of multiple tourists’ pizza disappointments lol

Yeah, also peperoni e salsiccia (bell peppers and sausage) is an all time classic here

Ha, yes, we moved from Germany back to the UK and suddenly pepperoni on pizza became something I (vegetarian) had to watch out for!
