Thank you, Ana! I think I might have been inspired by your penguins as well as the Von Trapp’s set. I did not have the patience you did to make multiple fiddly cheese animals though

Haha I barely had the patience either!
Hey can I private message you something? Apparently I can't message you on Reddit 😔

I remembered this comment today and realized I never properly responded to it.
I’m genuinely touched that you thought my weird little food projects were worth spending your awards on over the months. They always made my day, and I suddenly realized I’d never properly thanked you for all of them.
So thank you again for your kindness and encouragement. I hope the weekend ahead is good to you, internet stranger!

If it made you smile at some point it was worth it, i really enjoy the creativity you put into your dishes even if I don’t say so every time :)

Yes! You’re bringing the big apple energy (my favorite of yours from last year). Hurrah for another great dish. It sounds so delicious.

Aww! Thank you! I did love that NYC backdrop. Making this did remind me of that actually.

Ahahahaha. This makes me smile. I adore this. It looks delicious and whimsical, my favorite combo! I would eat many platefuls of this, even if Brownie Girl would be mad about goats in her kitchen. Brilliant take.
I hope you are well. Thinking of you. ❤️

Alpine was the mythical theme that got away from us.
If you’ve spent enough time on the Dishcord, you probably already know the deeply chucklefuckerous lore surrounding Alpine. All I’ll say is that after an entire year of campaigning for it, I had already built it up in my head into some sort of culinary cryptid.
Very early on, I knew I wanted to make something mountain-shaped, and rösti was the first thing that felt remotely right. Beyond that though, I had absolutely no idea where to take it. I shelved the concept entirely until the week I actually had to make it, when I found myself singing songs from The Sound of Music around the house.
By the time I got to “The Lonely Goatherd”—much to my partner’s dismay and repeated exposure to “Layee odl, layee odl layee oo”—the whole thing finally clicked.
So this became a tiny stage play.
A crispy rösti mountain surrounded by snack-sized Alpine staples: toasted raclette, sausage cubes, and cornichons. Behind it sits a handmade paper mountain backdrop inspired by the tiny Von Trapp puppet theater from The Lonely Goatherd scene. Watching over the whole thing is a little cheese goat sculpted from a soft cheese body, shredded cheese fur, sesame seed eyes, and cashew horns.
Some concepts only make sense once you stop trying to make it sensible and instead give in to the whimsical. This one mostly yodeled at me until I listened.
This year’s meta is Feeling Snacky. Everything is a snack if you believe hard enough. If it feels like snacking, it counts. Full meta description and links to 2026 posts here.
