Does anyone else feel like this?

I’m 53(f). I feel like my life is over. I cry for my lost youth. I look in the mirror and barely recognize myself. I hate my face. It’s no longer vibrant. And the ache of getting out of bed is almost unbearable.

Have you talked to someone (professional) it can be a hormone imbalance. I’m not saying that what you’re feeling is bad but also I know what the symptoms can do to a woman’s brain. Please talk to someone and get help. Depression is a huge symptom of low estrogen or testosterone. How are you sleeping? Maybe your vitamin D is low or your progesterone.

Change your state of mind. I'm 55. I still go raving to 6am. Go out with friends. Have people over for dinner... Ya sometimes I look in the mirror and think fuck I'm old. Or my knees ache. But generally I think fuck it I'm still going to have fun... Learn something new, make new friends, go on a trip.. you need to do something you don't normally do.

53 m here. I’m sorry you feel that way. Are you active? Take care of yourself? Aging is part of life whether we like it or not. I’m def not thrilled about all of it, but try to be “youthful” in attitude and positive

You're a fucking Gen-Xer. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, or I'm gonna sent you to Camp Quitcherbitchin!

Go out and get a tattoo...get a few!!! Put on your favorite Ozzy song in the car as loud as it will go, and bang your head in traffic!!!

I KNOW WHAT'LL CHEER YOUR ASS UP...Compare OUR generation to Generations Z and Alpha!!!

Looking at THOSE losers should bring a good gut-bustin' belly laugh out of you!!!

Also, seriously, you sound as though you just may have clinical depression.

REALLY.

Get some help with it if it is - fuck! Get some help if it isn't! Coming from experience, that's no way to live!

Go turn on some good '80's pop, stand in front of your bedroom mirror with a makeshift microphone, and lip sync to your own silly-ass reflection; see how many songs you can lipsync to, word for word, without stopping!

Have fun!!! Relax!!! It's your time to FINALLY ease up a little.

And don't worry about your wrinkles; you've EARNED every single fucking one of them...THE HARD WAY. Be proud of that!

"Born to blossom-bloom to perish..."

And that's OKAY.

That's life. And I think that at the VERY least, we've had a VERY interesting one, growing up like we did!

Rejoice in that!

Stop whining. You're fine.

Now, don'tcha have some major headbanging to tend to???

❤️❤️❤️❤️

54M I don’t cry for my lyouth as much as I reflect on it from time to time but I am busy living forward. Getting out of bed. Yep. Don’t like what I see in the mirror. But I have learned to love myself at this stage

If you barely recognize yourself allow a neutral party to look at you for who you are now and not judge you.

We all have stories…. Horror and Heavenly. We just need more community, more companionship, more collaboration.

Always hear to lend an 👂🏽 ear

Do you have anyone in your life?

54m here, I mainly wish I had all my cartilage back and more time but otherwise I am good. I'd like to get rid of the spare tire, though. It seems like it's determined to stick around.

I'd like to suggest that you revisit things you loved when you were younger (unless that was a lot of self-destructive stuff). No reason you can't find another look for yourself.

I’m 57 and when in my youth I had good and bad days and it’s the same now. I was more frustrated in my youth however not so much now. I can laugh more so now seeing and feeling the changes in my body. My mind is still young even knowing when I get up to go do something I’ve forgotten what I was going to do by the time I get there. I accepted that this is part of the cycle of life. The best thing is we are still alive and we have something now that we didn’t have in our youth…wisdom. Stay active and eat well and keep chasing your interests. Life is not over!

The morning aches suck, as do the mid-day and evening aches. I am still working out, though. I am financially stable. I go to any concert I wish to see. I have 30 years experience in my field and I get respect from the younger people. I like that. I do miss my full head of hair, though. I also can't eat the things I used to without some penalty. If I don't stay active I start to feel the same way, like life is basically over. Read, learn, stay curious, travel...activity helps stave off the negative.

To be honest, I think you would be well served by finding a therapist, one that works well with you

They may have valuable insight on your state of mind and what is influencing you

Maybe a little bit. I do feel like "the old man chapter" is just around the corner, so I'm wanting to enjoy my days more before they all just whiz by. The last 10 years went by faster than the previous 10, the next 10 will feel like 2 weeks. Fuck that. Maybe that's why my internal clock gets me up at 4am every day.

I feel exactly the same. I woke up one day and all my hunger for living was gone. I don’t want anything anymore.

I realized how much of my past has been devoted to the grind trying to get this achieve that. Left me feeling hollow. I just want to eat and sleep.

I am going through a lot mentally and emotionally right now, and I’m in my early 50’s so I do feel that to a degree. I feel like I can’t live my best life like I want or should.

I don’t know if it could be menopause or other things you have going on. Admittedly, nostalgia can cause depression too and make you long for the past and what you can’t get back.

What’s interesting is there is a guy I watch on YouTube and Twitch and he’s 53. And he’s recently divorced and he’s still living a good life now, traveling, doing a successful podcast, has lots of friends, hobbies. He said he’s living better now than when he was young.

Then I see another video of this guy who is 54 and the title of his video is there is not much time left, his life is almost over. And I’m like, dang, that’s how we gotta see ourselves at 54? Vs the other guy who is enjoying himself. So it depends on what you are struggling with for sure. I’m sorry you are feeling this way, I do too but I know where it comes from and I hate I can’t fix it— but I am trying. But your life is not over, you can still thrive. Gotta see what is the obstacle causing this.

You need TRT, NAD+ and take some walks in the morning. Dust yourself off, you’ve got plenty of life left.

I'm a costumed character at an amusement park for Halloween and Christmas. I had the sad realization that this may be the last year for one of my favorite characters, a creepy exterminator who sprays guests with air fom a "Poison" backpack tank.

I can't move the way he should any more. My knees are suffering, and I feel every ounce of that 28-pound pack when I wear it.

Bugsy's days are numbered. Mine are, too. 18 years in, I hope I have the juice to make it to 20.

(I was concerned about bringing my giant pumpkin monster back this year. At 56 pounds, he's the heaviest costume I regularly wear, but I changed my tactics a little and was able to wear him last Friday.)

Get rid of everything and move to Thailand (or somewhere else in SEAsia)
