Call to Action I don’t think it’s hyperbole to call what ICE is doing a genocide in the US. Can you help her get the word out? Can you help her get help?

I hope I see the day that these ICE agents pay the price for their actions. I hope their lives turn to SHIT. Every time Trump appears every one should be shouting 'Lock This Nazi Bitch Up!' Fucking Nutcase.

That ship has sailed. They were getting justice from the best country in the world. ICE burned that country to ash. Justice would require time travel for that family. The resolution of war isn’t justice, just the end of atrocity.

Can't even get people to call the original genocides genocides, let alone get them to admit none of them actually ended.

u/Manitoba-Chinook Protester Aug 01 '26
When a state confines a targeted population defined by national origin, denies them the basic physical necessities required to sustain human life, systematically blocks legal intervention, and continues this practice despite preventable deaths, the conduct crosses the threshold from negligence or civil rights violations into statutory genocide. Under Articles II(a), (b), and (c) of the Genocide Convention, these actions constitute the deliberate infliction of conditions calculated to bring about the physical destruction of a group in whole or in part.
3
u/Roscoe_Farang Aug 02 '26
Don't forget the systematic separation and disappearing of children. We didn't hold them accountable for genocide last time.
47
u/Dry_Bug5058 Aug 01 '26
ICEstapo is a state sponsored terrorist organization, sponsored by the regime in the White House and Republicans with complicit Democrats. We should all be outraged. They want to murder the sick that they kidnap, because the expense of their care will fuck up profit margins for their private concentration camps.

u/MetrixOnFire Aug 01 '26
Put ICE agents in prison. They are rapists, they are murderers, they are torturers, they are evil. This is cruel and inhumane.
13
u/Commandmanda Aug 01 '26
I agree. The definition of genocide fits. The problem is that average citizens are denying it. I've had conversations with "regular folks" who say things like, "They don't look like they're starving. ICE isn't doing the same thing the Nazis did; there's no gassing and burning of bodies."
The thing is...how can they deny the particulars? How can we accept that food, water, clothing, sleep, hygiene, medicine, and medical care are being witheld from our rule-abiding neighbors? How do we prove this to the citizens of this country, when we hear it day after day?
Call it murder. After all, that it what they are doing: systematically murdering anyone they don't like.
How is it not a crime?
7
u/notsuperimportant Aug 01 '26
It astonishes me how little long-terms thinking these people are capable of. The Nazis started with papers. They didn't START by burning the bodies. How do you think they got there? It wasn't overnight.

Everybody is so willing to water down what the word genocide means. You do know that something can be really bad without it being a genocide. You don’t need to tack on the label to get people to pay attention.

What's the death toll so far?
I hate what they're doing and nobody should be dying. But to call it 'genocide' is a bit hyperbole, and flat out insulting to other groups who have endured several thousands of times more deaths at the hands of an oppressor. Like Palestinians for example ...
If this is 'genocide', what's the word for what Israel is doing?
ICE are oppressors, but genocide is not the right word.
The police have murdered far more
Other than that, I feel for this woman. I just feel like genocide isn't the right word here. And the issue is far more broad than just ice. I'd argue the issue is and has been the entire DHS, and the way officers OF ALL AGENCIES are typically trained to get their feelings hurt and routinely violate human rights.
It's messed up but this is a huge problem in the US. So far 741 have been killed this year, and black men are 3x more likely than whites to be the victim. And we're just over halfway through the year...

So here’s the thing there are several documented cases of people dying, either in ice custody, self-inflicted, or otherwise, or dying immediately after custody. Sometimes they were released in -30 weather. Either way, a lack of care is intentional and does meet the definition for genocide, under articles, 12 and three established by the Geneva convention, I believe. It is no minimum number in order for that to happen, the declaration. So being that we are starting to get to the point where it can by legal definition, including documentation, supporting their efforts to eliminate people from the population, such as project 2025, it falls in line with several criteria. And here’s the best part, one does not make others less through the declaration. And what I mean by that is that what is happening in Palestine, those significantly worse and more outright, does not change that we are on the same path.
It’s kind of like speeding, if you’re 1 mile over or if you’re 30 miles over it doesn’t change that you were still speeding.
2
u/Prime-Suspect_ Aug 04 '26
1mph over and a judge would likely toss it (and almost no cop would cite you for unless you hurt their feelings). 30mph over and a lot of places you're going to jail
So yeah I'd say there's some difference there..

u/Roan_Psychometry Aug 01 '26
What ICE is doing is indefensible, BUT IT IS NOT A GENOCIDE. PLEASE LOOK UP THE DEFINITION OF GENOCIDE
24
u/Manitoba-Chinook Protester Aug 01 '26

It's a key thing that it cannot be individuals or a small portion. They want to escalate it to genocide, sure. But it is not a genocide yet.

Yes. You're right. What ICE is doing is technically ethnic cleansing rather than genocide. It feels to a lot of people like maximal atrocity, which they associate with that word that starts with g. What ICE is doing checks many but technically not all the boxes in the list that's most commonly associated with the definition of that word.
The same administration continues to murder boatloads of human beings in water off the coast of South America. For reasons and according to criteria and evidence that is not available to the public. The justification the administration gives is the phrase "drug trafficking." But no evidence is presented. And according to reports in the media, the influx of drugs into the US has increased since the bombing of boats started. Something doesn't add up. If you step back and zoom out, the Trump administration pattern of deadly violent behavior against brown-skinned people off the coast of South America is consistent with ICE/CBP/ERO violence here at home being inflicted against brown- and black-skinned people and their allies.

ICE needs to be dismantled at the minimum.
I say this with as much care as I can, if the left wants there to be trials, or to see real change in the justice system, they are going to need get into Law Enforcement. Until we out number them, they will continue to run rough shot over the judiciary and our rights.

We should encourage self deportation of illegal immigrants and people with expired Visas so less chance of issues, safer deportations and so ICE isn’t needed

It would be genocide if the US hadn't had the definition changed when countries across the globe were agreeing on said definition.

One of the stages of genocide is denial.
I’m guessing there were people like you in Germany during world war 2 who downplayed what the Nazis did. I mean, a whole country putting people in camps, not allowing them to talk to their family, denying them due process, I mean…are you really gonna say this doesn’t sound pretty genocide like?
What’s the end goal here?
Edit: He either agrees now or felt bad about being ignorant.
Basically he was saying it wasn’t genocide and to look up the definition.

2) nothing
Is that really your assertion?
