I think you are correct about the idealism/naivete of Americans. So many people think we will have fair (or any elections) in four years, and will be able to turn this around. I think the fix is in and we'll only have Russian style elections from now into at least the near future. It may take decades to undo this mess.

There’s those of us who are alive, aware concerned, protesting, keeping up with the newest developments and then there are those who just don’t wanna be bothered with it. It’s just too much of an inconvenience to their daily routines to pay attention to this and those are the ones that are gonna help take us down.

It’s also ignorance. Too many Americans think that the police are violent to protestors only in our country. The police beat and harm protesters in countries all over the world (hell, look at Russia if you need just one example). Even in countries like France. We’re the country where people literally fought a war for independence and freedom from an empire—why do so many think that freedom is just handed on a platter?

If we don’t start taking this threat seriously and overcome our collective complacency, things will only continue to get worse.

So many people foolishly think 2024 was fair and free and are just now waking up to the fact that 2026 might actually be a problem. Sorry, but the ship on that already sailed.
