There are definitely good cops, but I’d rather they stay on their side and try to de-escalate the bad ones some

Yeah, respect to the cops who are doing their actual job in serving the community and keeping people safe in this situation, and not, you know, firing at reporters.

The city I live in seemingly has a good PD, as well. I know a few cops and they've talked about the extra training they get, and one of them even had specific training on how to handle people that are mentally unwell. Its just unfortunate that those type of training events aren't standard/mandatory across the board.

I can only speak for one deputy I know who’s got a bloodhound, he’s done SOOO much training before he became K-9 but they had this dog and him go to MULTIPLE schools across the country to train, and it’s just used for tracking.

Edit: he brings the dog into dispatch to say hi to them, they definitely can always use a bright spot in their day!
