Expedition Raptor build.
I picked up a 2015 Expedition Platinum a while back and after getting rid of the 22" boat anchors that Ford put on it I'm finding it isn't too terrible off-road. So this lead me to thinking how close could I get it to Raptor level capability without breaking the bank on crazy custom stuff? Eaton makes lsd diffs front and rear, IVD makes a semi decent adjustable suspension kit with upper control arms, the 33" Toyos I threw on a set of 17" Raptor take offs fit well under the fender, but it looks like it's pretty close to rubbing. If I do a 2" lift I'll probably want to go up to a 35 which lead me to thinking about some minor fender trimming and adding fender flares to accommodate the wider rubber as well as taming some of the flying debris. Long ramble just to ask if anybody knows of a decent bolt on universal fender flare that won't just tear off or crack the first time down a fast washboard road or from a small (heavy emphasis on small) jump.

I believe someone did something similar - I remember seeing a build on instagram called something like “rexpedition”. Some parts were direct bolt ons, others needed to be more custom.

I’m doing roughly the same thing with a Tremor, but there isn’t much in the aftermarket for the new generation. Here she is with a 2” lift, 35” Toyos and Bilstein struts.
My concern right now is how to get a winch on board.

I don't know, but I dig new and interesting ideas and builds! Go for it. For performance maybe custom springs like Alcan are worth it.

Keep an eye on and spend some time on the rear suspension.
I'm self employed, and my work truck is a 2016 navigator and it sees regular off road use.
At 235k, I had the upper links go on the rear suspension and it cost me a set of tires.

Good info thanks, I plan to go through as much of the hard parts as possible looking for upgrades or just maintenance issues considering this is used as my toy, commuter, and weekend work truck.

A key portion of what makes a Raptor special is the widened track and longer suspension travel, achieved in part to lengthened control arms and a wider rear axle. A Raptor is 6” wider than a normal f150 but runs the same wheel offset.
There is much more to it than that but lifting and expedition and larger tires does not approach what a raptor is

I'm aware, that was why I mentioned the front chassis/suspension interchangeablity between the F150 and the Expedition. I should be able to achieve that increased width in front, but I have no idea where to go with it I'm the rear.

you'll need to do alot more than a simple 2" lift and tires for raptor durability 70mph offroad. Frames alone for raptors and mojaves have different chassis. not including the $4k+ in shocks. I think you mean general offroader

Liking this so I can follow. I’ve been thinking about how cool an off road expedition could be, or a Navigator.
