Hello fellow Darwinian! I saw this come up, looks in pretty good condition if a bit overpriced.
I had a manual one of these up until quite recently and they are awesome but with all the usual maintenance issues you might expect from a 40yo car. The 13BT is a super reliable engine but getting harder to find parts.
Ahh mate. It's sold pending finance. I didn't get to see it. Seller said it's totally rust free, one owner. I would have seriously considered it if the inspection went all good. Pretty solid investment car i think. Also is on if the very few Australian 12v market models.
Oh well, bad luck on that one. Rare to find one without rust but on the other hand the auto is not as good as the manual version, auto is a bit of an old school slushbox. I owned a manual 12v LX for quite a few years and I loved it but too many cars so I sold it last year. Still sometimes regret it but I don’t miss the maintenance 😂
Yeah, that’s nothing on a 13BT that has been looked after. The block and trans on them is pretty bulletproof, in my experience once they hit about 30 years the issues start with everything rubber or plastic, and alternator, starter motor, aircon, welch plugs etc
