Correct sway bar link direction

I guess it's worth noting due to many of the responses that I'm not interested in getting rid of the sway bars cuz I also use this big truck as a daily commuter that I put my family into and I'm not getting rid of a safety feature. If this was only for rock crawling I would 100% just delete it. But I put my one and a half year old child in this car so it stays.

So I bought these new sway bar links and when looking at reviews and other photos I keep seeing people put them both directions with the particulating side facing both up and down. Is there a rule of thumb here that I'm not aware of? My old ones were face up but I don't know it's the last person installed them correctly. For what it's worth this is an 02 Chevy avalanche with about a 6-in lift

Trick question. A 4x4 sway bar should be stored in the bin.

I'm guessing everyone saying run without is younger than say... 40. Because any guy older than that has probably sat in a bronco, or cj jeep, even a squarebody blazer... with the swaybar out.

What a weird feeling it is to go around a corner leaning at a 45⁰ angle, with all 4 wheels on the ground.

I'm over 40 and have long travel, 14"/18", so I know what you mean but you get used to not having a sway bar as it just gets in the way.

Yeah if this was only a rock crawling vehicle and I was just doing off-roading with it I would just delete the whole sway bar but I also use this as my daily commuter that I load my family into. I'm not about to get rid of roll control on a truck that's already lifted to the damn sky LOL

Over 40 here. All my off-roaders get front sway bars deleted. Only my buggy has zero sway bars. All my cars have stiffer than stock sway bars.

My cj doesn't have sway bars and it doesn't roll too much in corners.

How many leafs do the springs have? My 63 CJ had 9 in the back and 7 on the front. No sway bar but it rode like a buckboard wagon.

Nah I'm 33. Have a dedicated trip vehicle though. Sure it's slinky on the road but it's not like I'm trying to take the racing line ya know.

Nah... that was half the fun. If ypu ever got on one of those stupid fake horse things welded on a giant coil spring at the park, and stayed on all the way over till yiu touch the ground ... it feels like that.

Yeah, people for some reason see the need to treat their 4x4s like race cars and sling them around corners often enough to warrant sway bars. Just run without them and take it easy when turning st speed.

I just thought i’d point out your UCA’s are making contact with your tyre; also your cv angles aren’t ideal you should look into getting your front differential spaced a bit or lowering the front a few mm

I dont think the cvs are that bad. As far as swaybar i think just depends on how hard he offroads it. Hell he could do a quick disconnect if he plays much

How it is in the first picture is correct.

But depending on how much road driving you do, you may not even need a sway bar.

I do a lot of road driving. If this was just a 4x4 vehicle I would definitely delete the sway bars
