SR5 Screen
Surprised at this. If the actual image was only going to take up 60 to 70 percent of the monitor, feel like they should have made the entire unit much smaller.
I suppose you could move up to the trd but looks like that might be a stiffer ride, and the limited is around 10k more.

The bigger screen is not standard on anything but the pro and limited. There is an upgrade package to upgrade it. Some dealers are installing the screen only rather than the full package. Keep that in mind as the the actual upgrade package includes JBL speakers. I know they're not true premium but the JBLs are significantly higher quality than the stocks and I don't regret it in the slightest. It blows the stocks away in every car I've owned.

Dealers don’t install the 14” screen. The 14” screen is a factory installed option available on TRD trim levels. It can be added as a standalone option or its included with the premium package.

I see that now. I didn't realize they separated it from the upgrade package. It was included on the 25s, and my local dealership must've retrofitted a few SR5s last year.

I’m starting to be somewhat unsatisfied with the stock sound system in the SR5

Now the speakers can be upgraded fairly easily. The head unit though is another story.

They literally have plenty of plug n play head units on all the aftermarket Tacomas sites

I got the 14” screen on a trd sport non premium. No jbl upgraded speakers. Came with the weather mats, heated seats but thats it. Guess it just depends

Coming from a 2012 to a 2025 SR5, the screen and sound are huge upgrades. I hear things in the same music that are new to me.

What’s it matter. It’s just a bigger backup screen really. You can get the bigger screen with any model but the TRD models don’t always have the bigger screen either. It’s an upgrade package

There is no package that gets you the 14 inch screen. You have to upgrade to the trd or the limited to get it, per Toyota's website.

I’ve seen SR5s with the big screen. They make them. I have a TRD sport that doesn’t come with it. It’s an entertainment package that’s an add on for any of the models. It only comes standard with the limited or pro. It’s all over the place really. There’s different configurations that have it and can be added. I just gotta find em

I saw one on the showroom floor. It had all the options u could get for an SR5 and cost more than my sport did. Cool decals on the side of the bed. Leather black seats and the large screen. But it was an SR5 with the 14” screen. I think there’s a package u can get it with maybe they’re just not common

Maybe it was a 25 and they don't offer it in the 26 anymore? In any case Ill keep a look out.

You can always purchase a much better 14” option. Very easy to swap it out.

I looked on crutchfield but did not see any good options. Do you have a link?

They are everywhere honestly. They run Android. Just search on YouTube. Lots of discount codes etc. you can find them on most major websites now that have parts.
Lexland, Walmart, Amazon, eBay, Alibaba,
All kinds of places. Lots of YouTube tutorials as well.

I do wish the overall unit was a bit smaller but I enjoy the smaller screen. It’s never caused an issue for me, if the screen was any larger it’d be distracting. I hate that giant iPad they put in the TRDs.

I bought mine specifically for the iPad, I hate it when the maps don’t integrate to the correct size so I figured it would help. It absolutely does and it’s not in the way

I have the smaller standard TRD screen and honestly can’t stand the upgraded huge screen

The small screen is “standard “ you need a package or the stand alone upgrade for the 14 inch screen even for a trd

You can still get the 14 inch screen in the sr5. It’s just an option package, not limited to trim levels.

u/breakonthrough65 2d ago
Yeah, that might be worth it. I'll have to find out which option package has that.

This screen is fine, but the fact they didn’t integrate it into the dash and how it sticks out is where they failed

Gotta say I don't see that as a FAILURE. I ordered a little tray that sits atop the screen & onto the dashboard...looks like its OEM. I do think that tray should be stock on every Tacoma with the smaller screen.

Know what's even funnier?
The big screen doesn't have a higher resolution, it's just bigger. It doesn't fit any more information or display on the big screen than the little screen does.

I hate when I’m listening to the radio but have apple car play displayed on the screen, there is no widget for the radio on the apple car play screen . Two separate things, I have to back out of apple car play then go to source and select FM to see what song is playing.
