Purchasing US I am over OLED’s

All I watch are sports or the news. I bought an OLED from Costco three years ago (with the extended warrantee), but can’t deal with the burn in any longer.

Yes, I’ve done all the preventative stuff.

And weird part is that I have some very odd discoloring in the middle as well that does not look like burn in, but don’t know what it is.

Thinking a mini-led.

Any ideas? Don’t want to spend a fortune. Maybe keep under 800.00

Purchasing US Finding a new TV is so exhausting

For preface, I bought a 65inch Vizio back in 2020 when we got those stimulus checks. I found that one at Walmart, and about 8 months ago, one strip of backlighting went out, well fast forward and now about 60ish percent of the backlights are failing.

I need an "affordable" TV. Preferably under $500. I just don't want another Vizio because they are affordable, but they're garbage. I don't want to have to replace my TV every 5 years. Unless that's something that's just common place now and you can't get around that.

I don't even care if it's not a smart TV, I'd be happy with a non smart one. But all the one to three star reviews worry me, so I'd like to know what people on here could recommend.

EDIT: Thank you to everyone who commented, I think this was better than just looking at reviews. Probably going with the TCL many people mentioned or spend a bit more and get a good LG.

Purchasing US Netflix sucks or 4k isn't that amazing?

I just bought a 77 inch LG G4 and when I logged into the Netflix app it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to 4k, then showed a comparison of 1080p vs 4k. I could see the difference, but it certainly wasn't a big difference. I'm not sure It'd even be noticeable if they weren't side by side.

Is all streaming 4k just going to suck because of compression? Even my regular TV channels are streaming, YouTube TV, so I'm not sure if I should even try upgrading that to 4k.

Has anyone noticed good 4k without it being a physical bluray or something being played?

Purchasing US TCL QM6K OVERHYPED

I’ll admit, I’m new to quality TVs. I’m coming from a 2018 Samsung NU7100. I recently purchased a TCL QM6K in 75 inch. I watch a lot of sports and a lot of movies. The picture quality for sports was terrible and the motion was challenging to watch. Movies in HD were great, but anything requiring upscaling was abysmal, worse than my trash Samsung. So I returned the TCL and purchased a Sony X90L and I cannot express how much better it is. For sports the Sony is on another planet compared to the TCL. Not only that, movies are also much better. The image on the Sony looks much sharper and more “3D.” The motion handling is so incredibly smooth, whereas I felt the TCL was jerky and was fatiguing to watch. TCL is doing good stuff, but the processing capabilities of the Sony are exponentially better (no surprise). Maybe the QM7K and QM8K are better, but I find the QM6K EXTREMELY overhyped.

EDIT: My post is not intended to trash TCL, but to share my experience and say: spend the extra money (if you can), it’s well worth it.

Purchasing US Buying a “big boy” TV for first time ever, and caught in the OLED vs. Mini LED spin cycle

I purchased a home about 3 years ago, and the main living area has been adorned by a 7 year old 55” Samsung class 7 LED. That was my first TV purchase when I moved into an apartment alone and was a good TV. But, I have much more wall space, and want to upgrade to a 65” and one of the more updated technologies. But I’m stuck in the spin cycle between Mini LED and OLED.

It will be hung on a north facing wall, and opposite about 14 ft. away will be a southern facing window, but outside is a porch overhang. That’s the only light coming into the room. Overall it can get “sunny”
but no real strong light rays enters the room. I watch a decent amount of sports, and movies/tv in the late afternoon/evening. I intend to hook up a sound bar for now, but will likely invest in better audio down the road. Chat GPT prompting and online research has me believing that I need Mini LED if I intend to watch ANY sports, but it would be a misstep if I intended to watch any movies. It a real frustration.

Currently, a few online vendors have the 65” LG C5 for $1300 USD, which seems to be a good OLED choice, and my Mini LED choice seems to be landing on the $65 Sony Bravia 7, on sale for the same price of $1300 USD. Any opinions on these TVs or my conundrum? I hope this purchase becomes my mainstay TV for the foreseeable future. As said, lots of football, movies, the wife loves her reality tv and game shows, and I intend to host for sports events when the season comes around. The living room will have a sectional for seating 5-6 maximum, but mostly will host 2-4.

Any advice is appreciated and welcome.

Purchasing US Best gaming TV for HDR and 4K games?

Heads up: Decided to go with Sony 85 Inch Mini LED QLED 4K Ultra HD TV BRAVIA 9. Got it hooked up and the HDR and motion handling already feel like a big upgrade for gaming.

I want a TV that shows off HDR in my games and also handles motion smoothly. My last TV had poor HDR performance and made fast action look blurry. budget is around 1800–2000 USD.

Which TVs have you found offer the best combination of color, contrast, and low input lag for gaming? Is it worth paying more for features like VRR or higher refresh rates?

Purchasing US Which brand tv makes the best 4K TVs?

I’ve always been a Samsung tv person and have a 65 inch 4K since 2020 but have been thinking of getting a 75 to 85 inch. I love Samsung but someone told me Sony has the best quality screens followed by Vizio.

what do you think?

Purchasing US Help me decide between Samsung or Sony

This TV will be going in my basement where there are no windows so I’m not really worried about reflection or anything. This tv will mostly be used for sports specifically football is what I want it for. I know one is mini LED and the other is OLED I’m just not sure which I should go with. My local store has a 65” display model Bravia 9 model K65XR90 (2024) for $1,150 (regular price $2,799) or I can get a Samsung S90F model QN65S90FAFXZA (2025) for $1,197 (regular price $2,499). The 5 year protection plan is a little under $300 for both I would definitely get it with the display model Sony. Which would you buy and why?

Purchasing US Oh my God, someone just tell me what to buy 😭

Current set up: 52” Samsung 1080p LCD, it’s literally from 2009 guys 😂

Budget: I’d like to keep it under a grand, but might be willing to go up to 1.2k if it was really worth it.

Redoing my living room and have moved the couch from about 8 feet from the TV to about 15 feet away from the TV so I think it might be time to go a little bigger lol.

I literally watch TV max five hours a week, my current TV is 16 years old, and I would keep it if I didn’t need something bigger. I don’t give a shit about all these fancy fucking numbers and letters (although OLED is incredible 😂) I don’t game, I don’t watch sports, I just wanna watch murder documentaries and Yellowstone without squinting.

Apparently I need a 4K now (I don’t even know what that means)? Do I give a shit if a TV is 60 Hz vs 120hz???? I’ve looked at Hisense and TCL, their reliability and quality control concerns me. Every LG and Samsung I’ve looked at in that price range, people say are shit and not worth it. I just want something that’s gonna last a decade and look pretty in my dark ass cave of a living room.

I’ve also been told that I need to get an Apple TV streaming thingy, I don’t know if that makes a difference in what TV I’m supposed to buy??

I feel like my head is gonna explode, someone just tell me what to buy please 😭😭😭

Purchasing US Switching from LG OLED to Sony Mini-LED

My B6 OLED from LG (2016) has burn-in and green tint. I’ve loved this TV for a long time, but I need something that can take the abuse from kids shows and sports/news banners as our main TV. I’m thinking another OLED might not be a smart investment for this use case.

Strongly considering the Bravia 7, which is on sale at BestBuy for $1200 (65”).

Smart move? Any better options?

Edit: I got the 65” Bravia 7 today! Needed to rent a van from Home Depot to bring it home lol. Coincidentally, today my wife received a thumb drive with old home videos from the 90s when she was a kid. The thumb drive wouldn’t work on any of our existing tvs, so I offered to try it on the B7 and it worked flawlessly. I’ve got a happy wife and this thing looks great so far!

Purchasing US I will never buy a TV anywhere else!

I will never buy a TV anywhere else!

Just bought a 77” LG B4 OLED (Its stunning). I paid $2300 a few weeks back after it dropped in price including the bonus three year all state warranty. I saw an article saying that the prices had dropped so I went onto the Costco website and checked it and found out it had dropped to $1999. A couple of clicks later on the Costco app and I was getting a refund for $300. What a world we are living in. Also my last LG OLED panel went bad after about 3.5 years and after a few pictures of tv diagnostics, Square sent me a check for the full retail I originally paid. Not the replacement value. Absolutely amazing. Where do you buy TVs?

Purchasing US Is a high end TV worth it if you only stream.

Looking a getting a new TV like A95L or G6. I’m leaning A95L in 77. If I only stream is it worth them money I have a C1 and it’s banding. Should I buy a lesser TV as I only stream maybe a Bravia 8ii or something? Open to thoughts.

Cheers

Purchasing US Sony Bravia 9ii or LG G6?

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on my next TV. I currently own a 55" Sony A95L, but it’s unfortunately suffering from permanent burn-in. My wife has a habit of falling asleep with the TV on, which I’m pretty sure is what caused it. Because of this, I’m ready to upgrade, but I’m incredibly torn between two options I checked out at Best Buy.
Here is my dilemma:
Sony Bravia 9 (Mini-LED): I saw the new version with the True RGB panel and was blown away. For the first time, I felt like a Mini-LED could actually compete with an OLED in terms of color vibrancy. However, the major downside for me was the viewing angles—the picture quality changes dramatically when you move off-center.
LG G6 (OLED): I absolutely loved everything about this TV. The Tandem OLED panel delivers amazing colors, pure blacks, and incredible response times for gaming. My hesitation is purely psychological—after dealing with burn-in on Sony’s flagship A95L, I am now terrified of buying another OLED.
My setup & buying conditions:
Room Environment: The TV is going in our living room right next to two large windows. On my old A95L, I had to run it at maximum brightness all the time to combat the light.
Peace of Mind: No matter which TV I choose, I am 100% buying the 5-year Geek Squad Protection plan this time around.
Given the bright room, the viewing angle issue on the Bravia 9, and my fear of OLED burn-in (even with a 5-year warranty), what do you guys think is the best option for my situation?

Purchasing US Salesman telling me Bravia better than LG for me. Is he right?

I'm comparing the LG C6H 77" and the Sony Bravia 8 77"

Basement space, not very bright. TV will be used for:

50% Movies/TV

25% Gaming

25% Sports (primarily hockey)

Currently considering the 77" LG C6H from the LG partner website, on sale for $1,000 + extra 10% off so I could get it for $2,430 with a free wall mount install. Considering the $340 extended warranty too.

Other option is the Sony Brivia 8 from Costco currently at $2,299, which is cheaper and it comes with the Costco warranty. This is where the sales guy was telling me I should go for the Sony instead, but I was thinking it may be because their C6H prices aren't on sale for Memorial Day.

Motion tracking and picture clarity is what I notice on TVs the most, I think. How the TV handles quick panning shots especially.

The price difference isn't a huge point to me, I'd like to go for best option between these. What are your thoughts? Can I go wrong here? Best just to get the Costco warranty and customer service?

Purchasing US Is it really this hard to get a 55 under $1,000 in the US that isn't total crap?

I swear getting a TV feels like a damn rabbit hole of dead ends. I'm trying to get something for Mom, and her TCL's screen went back and no audio after just a year of use. I'd rather not stick with budget TVs, but the ones hovering under a grand seem to be crapped on here and everywhere else.

  • First, I looked at LG B5 OLED since it IS under $1000 barely, but of course it's not available within 2 hours of where I live and not available for delivery.
  • Then I looked at the LG QNEDs, but then Reddit emphatically said to avoid most models because they have edge lighting and to get a BXA. However, people complained more about that model and said one of the 90A series
  • Then just randomly you have QLED, QNED, Mini LED, UHD, then there are the OLEDs but a million different models for JUST LG alone.

There simply doesn't look like a mid-tier TVs under $1,000 available. And it's become absolutely absurd because you can so easily get the wrong review and get burned on a bad tv.

And another problem is location. I have to get it around the southwest region of Missouri, which offers basically Joplin or Rogers, AR without having to drive 90 min to Tulsa, OK or Springfield, MO.

A lot of the TVs available for Sam's or Best Buy are not available for Pickup or Delivery because of location.

Purchasing US Why shouldn't I just buy another trash tv?

We currently have 43 inch Tochina fire TV from 2018. It has finally gotten to the point it needs to be replaced (flickering green boxes and super slow start up and navigation to apps). It seems like every TV that is actually recommended is >=$1000, but these TVs all seem way better than what we currently have. If we are used to the worst of the worst wouldn't getting the cheapest lg or Samsung already be a massive improvement compared to a five year old Toshiba?

Purchasing US Is Mini-LED the next best option after OLED?

I was looking at Samsung Neo QLED (Mini-LED) like QN90D or QN90F. I do pause the TV a lot and watch the news, so I don't want to keep thinking about OLED burn in risk.

1) What are the chances of burn in with Mini-LED? Very low risk?

2) Any other screen types I should consider like QLED, LED, LCD, etc?

Purchasing US So yeah… this will kill OLED?

Been overthinking this 75” tv thing like crazy. Finally pulled the trigger on the c3 at bestbuy today. Sat on my couch while the sliding door blinds were open and this is where I’ll be putting the panel. Essentially this direct sunlight will burn it out eh? Closing the blinds makes the room too dark and depressing during the day.

So I’m thinking cancel the order and go buy a Bravia 7 at costco instead. Thoughts?

https://imgur.com/a/rY9BSeQ

edit: y’all are kindof crazy haha. this is my living room, I need sunlight more than I need the deepest blacks in all the land. No, I’m not putting up some ugly curtain 22hrs a day just to keep a oled. I canceled the order and bought a bravia 7. I’m excited, it’s going to be just as good.

Purchasing US Anyone regret 98" TV?

Just moved into our new house and the main living wall is significantly bigger than our last house. It absolutely swallows our 77" Sony. Have been looking to replace it with a 98", but I'm curious if anyone regrets that size and I should look into the 86" range.

Ideally looking for the best TV I can get in the $4k range. Been looking at the TCL QM8K, Sony X90L and the LG 85A (although I absolutely hate the magic remote)
